Star wars Galaxy Map

By Deathwing, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm sure someone will give a "speed of plot" answer. It's not very satisfying, but unfortunately there is no good rational way to explain any of it, and "speed of plot" is probably the most-canon answer there is.

Well, we can sort of guesstimate from what we see in TPM. Consider how long it takes Maul to get from Courscant to Tatooine - we see him talking to his Boss, the events of one day unfold (perhaps two - I don't remember clearly if there was a couple of nights in there), Maul arrives at dawn.

Now, Palpatine probably provided him with the most tricked out ride in the known universe, so that's most likely the absolutely fastest the trip can be made. Double that time (minimum) for a bog standard x1 drive. and 4x times that for a x2.

Since Tatooine and Bespin are more or less the same distance - but not on a major hyperspace lane - you wouldn't be too far off if you said 5 days for a x1 hyperdrive (up or down, depending on their astrogation rolls, of course).

Oddly enough, write-ups for the Scimitar (Sith Infiltrator) give it a hyperdrive with anywhere from a Class 1.5 (Wookieepedia) to Class 3 (ESsential Guide to Vehicles & Vessels).

I don't use the travel times from the Prequels as they allow for crossing the galaxy in absurdly short periods of time (even for Star Wars) that don't even come close to matching what's in the Edge of the Empire book. And yes, for the purposes of the game, I consider the FFG materials more 'canon' than any other materials, including the films.

We printed the galaxy map on glossy paper, the result was this:

1656136_890510980981019_2479744519303173

It's about 90cm x 110cm in size.

We can read all the names, they are mostly in font 11 and 12, some names are larger.

That image can be found easily on google.

You're welcome!

In any way, if spanish publisher can publish the official map, I wonder why FFG hasn't done the same by now. Perhaps a simple request would be sufficient

Speed of plot is ok of course, but if anyone is interested in consistent travel times, this is what I plan to do when I finally start the main EoeT campaign, which I want to be long running. No exact results as I havent done it yet

1) Print map

2) Measure distance with a ruler through a comercial route, and decide how long that should take. I might just use the times of Beyond the Rim as a base since I'm adapting that as a starting adventure. Then assign a time per cm at class 1.

3) When we travel, simply measure and increase difficulty accordingly if the players go out the routes for shorter paths (as they do in beyond the rim too).

This map has been amazing! I've marked all the worlds with the crystals Jedi might need, plotted out a course for the cruise liner the players are on, and made note of where different module adventures are in the galaxy in relation to the players.

Its a big galaxy out there!
