ROJ BG Ship aka Braha'tok-class gunship - original trilogy canon

By patox, in X-Wing

This was buried in another post, so it needed it's own thread. To my shock there's a ship in the original trilogy that I have never seen before. Something even more esoteric than the Rebel Tanker in Empire Strikes Back.

For 23 years, it was simply known as the "ROJ BG ship." But this is a full on canon ship that appeared before any special editions or remasters or whatever else.

31 years later and watching Return of the Jedi, who knows how many times, I've never seen this sucker.

But here it is. And the Braha'tok-class gunship Wookieepedia entry needs to include Canon in it's description.

I haven't seen it in any FFG RPG or card game. And certainly not the X-Wing Miniatures Game. So there are still non-EU ships for Fantasy Flight Games to explore.

Looks almost like a modified Carrack class.

And while the Carrack cruiser was a creation of West End Games, its is drawn historically from the three- or four-masted sailing ship developed in the 15th century by the Genoese for use in commerce differing from the Venetians who favored Galleys.

Those ships then became widely used by Europe's 15th-century maritime powers.

Makes me think of a cross between a speeder bike and a CR90.dornean_gunship.gif

The two gunships were the Braha'tok and the Torktarak, under the command of the Dorneans Kiles L'toth and Etahn A'baht, respectively. During the Battle of Endor, both of the ships engaged the Imperial Carrack-class light cruiser Eminence, overcoming and destroying the enemy vessel.

Yea I thought E'tahn's ship appeared briefly in RotJ, and I knew it was that ship, but I couldn't remember the name or what happened to it.

Too big for a simple Large ship, no? 90m would make it a small Huge ship, I'd think.

Looks like the Braha'tok found it's way to Scarif.
