Please critique this list: Chewie Dash

By gundamv, in X-Wing

The list:
Dash Rendar — YT-2400 36
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Engine Upgrade 4
Outrider 5
Chewbacca — YT-1300 42
Gunner 5
Millennium Falcon 1
Total: 100 points.
Strategy: Dash flies around the edge, using Boosts as necessary to get him out of trouble (i.e. donut hole). Put debris or rocks around the edge so that Dash is shielded from that side. Chewbacca is there as hard-hitting support. In total, I get 7 attack dice per turn (more if Chewie is at close range to the enemy ship).
I am considering swapping out Falcon Title for VI on Dash for better effectiveness against Phantom builds. Thoughts?

Fixed font. Should be readable now.

Dash doesn't NEED an Engine Upgrade. He already has a Barrel-Roll for that exact purpose.

Trade it in, and you buy him Veteran's Instincts, and Chewbacca gets C3P0.

Don't own C-3PO. Also, if I fly Dash along the edge, boost will be more useful than barrel roll, as I would only be able to barrel roll to one side (the side that is still on the game map).

That will do better than what you have.

It is a disgusting list when you only have 75 mins.

Do you guys really think Zoccola's version is better?

Also. You guys have obviously not read the new Autothrottle card: "If you are playing Ints and your opponent shows up to the table with two pancakes, you may put your hands around his greasy neck."

Yes.

Also. You guys have obviously not read the new Autothrottle card: "If you are playing Ints and your opponent shows up to the table with two pancakes, you may put your hands around his greasy neck."

Autothrusters isn't out yet, so at this point in time it's irrelevant.

My own take on the AFS list:

Dash Rendar - Lone Wolf, Jan Ors, Heavy Laser Cannon, Outrider (52)

Chewbacca - Predator, Recon Specialist (48)

Considering switching the Outrider title for Gunner on Chewie. Either way, they'll both be a PITA to take down.

reading FTW

I love recon specialist on the outrider. if i'm not playing the PTL + Kyle super dash builds, i'd rather take a recon specialist to go with the HLC.

What about removing the engine upgrade or gunner and putting opportunist on Chewie? With Dash shooting first, the opponent will hopefully use up any focus or evade tokens giving Chewie a chance to roll 4 dice also.

You will generally want those 50 odd points to be as unkillable as possible due to the time constraints in a normal game.

And to force him to chase Dash.

YMMV.

Using Leebo instead of Engine Upgrade is an option, though I am a bit concerned about the ion token. I know it takes two ion tokens to force my Outrider to move 1 straight, but I'm concerned that that would happen at the worst possible time. Is there a way I could clear my ion tokens without being forced to? e.g. I have one ion token and I voluntarily move 1 straight the next turn to clear the ion token.

Ive been running something very similar. 58pt superdash and bare bones chewie quite effectivly.

Dash w/PtL, HLC, Kyle, Outrider, EU

Ive had pretty good sucess so far. Ptl, EU dash is stupid maneuverable, and chewie is really tough.

I have been using this so far 4-0.

Dash

-PTL

-outrider

-HLC

-Nien Numb

Chewbaca

-DTF

-C3PO

-Jan Ors

This way Jan can give the evade to either Chewie or Dash depending on who needs it more. and with one point left I put Nien to help clear stress.

Don't own C-3PO. Also, if I fly Dash along the edge, boost will be more useful than barrel roll, as I would only be able to barrel roll to one side (the side that is still on the game map).

If your not flying Dash through a field of rocks your doing it wrong............

If you are going to fly along the edge of the map then you will not make the most use of Dash's ability. The only reason where he would still be useful would be if you packed Veteran instinct on him (which could help keep the donut hole clear). Otherwise, one of the other pilots would work just as well.

Just be wary of pilots like Soontir or Turr; they will get inside that donut hole in no time.

I run this because Dash is only useful if you plan running him through asteroids, which i don't always want to do.

Chewbacca (52)

YT-1300 (42), Lone Wolf (2), C-3PO (3), R2-D2 (4), Millenium Falcon (1)

I can switch Nien for Predator on Chewie if needed. Both ships are pretty tanky, especially chewie has it all. You send him in while Leebo ranges in the HLC from the backfield.

Does it make sense to do Dash + VI + 99pt build initiative?

hey btw, does dash ignore the damage from rocks and stress from debris fields?

No, but he can fire/make action while touching rocks

today I tryed this list twice:

Dash Rendar (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Outrider (5)

Chewbacca (42)
Push the Limit (3)
Nien Nunb (1)
"Leebo" (2)
Millennium Falcon (1)

Total: 99

One win (vs. b-wing Farlander, Biggs and HWK Jan Orc).

One loose (vs. double Firespray, Boba and Scarlet).

What I think:

1) Leebo crew is nice. Free boost provide a lot of maneuverability. Ion 1-stright is green via Nunb, which is also fine.

2) Lone wolf is fine, but it need a good flight plan. Even with 2 ships it is simple to be too close for LW.

No, but he can fire/make action while touching rocks

That's the Crew card.

Dash the Pilot ignores obstructions during the activation phase: He wouldn't take damage or stress, and still gets his action, but he can't fire while sitting on one.

Debating whether to use Gunner or Lone Wolf on Chewie. If I use Lone Wolf on Chewie, I could also use VI on Dash with 2 points to spare for initiative against Phantoms and Fat Han. However, that could hinder focus fire, as putting Chewie and Dash too close together would negate Lone Wolf. Thoughts?

I ran this on a very small store tournament yesterday. It was only two games but it worked pretty well.

I had some problems against a triple phantom build, but some minor errors of my adversary and a little luck let Chewie pull out the victory in the end. Next match i won a little more easily but it still had some tense moments.

Chewie performed superbly in both games, Lone Wolf helping me to get 3 evades on some turns, but i was not happy with Dash. PTL is not optimal, both adversaries could stress me, and i also felt that the ship was too slow to run from the Phantoms. Engine upgrade would have helped a huge lot i feel. But i can't see where to fit it in at 4 points...
