R2-F2 And EI

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

I am really thinking I want to try putting R2-F2 and an Experimental Interface on the same ships.

My best idea so far is

Coran Horn + R2+F2

Green squadron Pilots with refits and wingman

I really like the idea of Coran Horn with 4 agility all the time. Maybe I'll even throw on some Sensor Jammers.

Evade + Focus tokens are better than 1 extra agility dice + Focus defensively speaking, and it only costs you 3 points from the PtL. Once the tokens are gone, sure, it may be better.

You can get the stealth device if you really want that extra fourth dice, but i don't see the 6 points into EI+ R2F2 being worth it.

EI also restricts the actions you can take and in what order you take them. (So does PTL but you you have more choices because it specifies you need to do one action from your action bar and you typically have a few choices).

For example, if you're on someone's tail and want to slam them with a strong attack, with PTL you can focus+TL. With EI you don't have that option since if you want to do two actions, one needs to be the R2F2.

True if you're only expecting to be attacked once per round or are in a one-on-one situation. False if you're expecting to be attacked multiple times over the course of a round. Corran Horn's a mightily expensive pilot, and if you're fielding him, chances are you may well find yourself being outnumbered. R2-F2 can potentially help you weather a multiple attack storm until the endgame, at which point you can switch to the Focus/Evade combo.

If you ARE expected to be outnumbered, then Advance Sensors might be a better bet than Sensor Jammer to protect you from losing your actions to blocking.

All that being said, I'd still be more tempted to run R2-D2 (with or without Shield Upgrade) than R2-F2 & EI anyway.

Biggs + EI + R2F2 seems like a good combo.

Gecko, that's what i implied when i said "once the tokens are gone" ;P. It's not exactly only 1on1, it depends on what is shooting at you, and what your rolls are.

The thing is that most list don't have many ships nowadays, and an agility dice withouth dice modification is not that good to deserve 6 points. Compared to R2D2 + PtL, or PtL + Engine Upgrade, you should have an easier time. You are doing greens in both cases.
