Nssis-class Clawcraft

By RepCommando, in X-Wing

Well I'm honored that took the idea from me, but that said, a little bit of constructive criticism:

1) I'm not sure if it should be as strong as Defender, the most advanced fighter in the galaxy, maybe 1 less shield?

2) The Clawcraft is known for being really slow (we're talking Y-wing slow), yet you have it with 5 and 4 forwards. It was un-rivaled in maneuverability because of all the little retro-thrusters everywhere, but it was slow, I'd drop the 5 forward, and maybe make the 4 a red, and trade the boost for a barrel roll

3) as for the affiliation, you can make arguments for all sides: A. Jag was married to Jaina Solo and worked for the Jedi, so it could be Rebel B. he was the head of the Empire for a time so it could be Empire C. It's a Chiss ship and the Chiss kind of fit into Scum and Villainy

I'll let you decide on that one :D It would also be cool to see an alt-pilot card for Soontir in a Clawcraft

overall great work, keep the custom cards coming!

The Wook says that the Clawcraft was only slightly slower than an X-Wing (though the stats for the X-Wing are for the T-65, and it claims that the XJ series had exactly the same speeds, not to mention claiming that the B-Wing is simultaneously slower and faster than the Y-Wing, so I'm inclined to regard it as suspect) (though what that does to my opinions about how big the A-Wing is confuses me ;) ). The in-universe sources don't seem to make a claim either way, unless it was part of the awful, awful Dark Nest stuff that I have tried to forget. But Allston and Stackpole don't seem to say that it's slow in the NJO.

I've always been a bit of a fan of Jag Fel, and a bit puzzled as to why he's ranked so low on the pilot rosters. He's related by blood to the two best non-Jedi pilots in the galaxy, and can match Jaina Solo, who I believe is considered the top pilot of her generation.

Both yours and YWINGACEs comment can be resolved. See the person that wrote or at least looked over the B-Wing page, approved it but didnt touch up the details. The statement about the B-Wing being slower and faster than a Y-Wing is true from a certant point of view. The Y-Wing BTL-A4, and probably every subtype of A4, are just as fast as most X-Wings, later end X-Wings probably not.

The Y-Wing BTL-S3 and all of its subtypes are slower than just about if not every other REB fighter.

Since these Chiss fighters are slower than X-Wings, and most X-Wings have the same exact acceleration, MLGTs, and atmo speed with and without shields as BTL-A4s, its fair to say Chiss fighters are slower than Y-Wings BTL-A4.

better dial and same base stats as defender for less money. Seems a little too good. nice work though art wise and such. this feels like the rebel defender to me, and I like to keep the factions different so we don't wind up with the imperial xwing, the rebel interceptor, etc. Just my personal preference however. It might work for scum though

The Card Creator hasn't been updated to S&V, the OP has stated that it isn't meant to be Rebel. Also, I think most agreed the dial is a little off, and that it should be a 3/3/3/2.

Yea, that's how I'd see them, except maybe with a 4 red instead of white.

I maybe wrong here but wasn't Twin Suns Squadron a mix of Chiss craft and X-wings?

I'm fascinated with ships losing an upgrade slot when a particular ship dies. That being said, you can't apply the upgrades once a ship is on the field, can you? So Jag's ability wouldn't be able to be used to construct your build. Am I missing something there?

Also, you found more artwork! Gorgeous. I'm curious as to where you were able to manufacture the ship icon.

Um, excuse me but I think you forgot about a certain awesome chiss......

the abilities seem way too restricted. they require certain things to be on the field to do anything

These pilots would not have allied with the rebels. Jagged Fel went on to run the most prominent of the Empire remnants and eventually became the first Fel Emperor of the new Empire.

So here's my take on the Clawcraft:

It was supposed to be slower than a standard TIE yet more maneuverable. It also didn't have Torps or missiles standard. It was beefier than a TIE, while only moderately shielded. Thus I think a stat line of 3/2/4/1 with Focus, Evade, and Barrel Roll would be good. The hard turns should be the only green moves, and it should have a max speed of 4 (MAYBE a red 5). An S-loop would be nice. However, one of the defining features of the Clawcraft was the forward-facing maneuvering jets. Therefore, above all else it should have a red 0 stop maneuver. One of the pilots could allow a 90° rotation when that maneuver was chosen.

The Clawcraft was seen used by 2 governments: The Chiss Ascendancy and the Empire of the Hand. The former was less associated with the Empire than the latter. Thus I could see two Title cards available to the ship. The Ascendancy Clawcraft could gain the Ilicit Upgrade, while the EotH Clawcraft could gain the Sensor Slot.

i see more manueverable as having good agility for example the fact that bombers have low agility and the a-wing and ties (other than tie bomber which has a lower agility) have high agility and are described as more manueverable than the other rebel ships (correct me if im wrong)

I think agility dice are an abstract combination of maneuverability, speed, and silhouette. I also seem to remember reading somewhere that the Clawcraft had a tighter turning radius than most other ships (partly due to the forward-facing maneuvering thrusters).

if it has a tighter turning radius than most ships wouldn't it make sense to have a new action/maneuver to reflect that?
