(First of all, credit to RepCommando for giving me this idea. He did this to a homebuild B-wing over in his/her "For the Love of B-wings" thread. Kudos.)
What would people think of an EPT -- or perhaps more accurately a modification -- that removed the k-turn from your dial in exchange for something? To be clear, you'd lose any and all k-turns regardless of speed and, in the TIE Defender's case, difficulty. Fluff wise it would be akin to some kind of hardware upgrade that reduced mobility. To be done effectively we'd need to calculate the point value of a k-turn, then compare it to already existing EPTs, abilities, PS, weapon, modification, etc. costs. (Um, MajorJuggler, any estimates off the top of your calculating head?)
The card itself could be priced low so to reflect the exchange too, though how much lower would be dependent on what a k-turn costs a ship's dial. Or it could still carry a decent cost to warrant a greater benefit.
Ideas on concept and application?
-"Stripped Engine:" -2 point cost.
-"Streamlined Engine:" Treat all forward movements as green.
-"Secondary Payload:" Gain an ordinance slot?
-"Systems Upgrade:" Gain a systems slot? [Lose k-turn AND pay a steep point cost]
-Unique title card for Defender: Since it pays a steeper price with white k-turns, maybe turning some turns white/green for players who'd rather turn and burn?
*You could possibly limit it to small base ships as well to keep it from buffing larger (usually turreted) ships all the more. But this would depend on what it ultimately exchanged the k-turn for before it could be deemed necessary.
