decimatir paint jobs

By hells, in X-Wing

so I finally got my decimator today hooray, looks way to plain with the dull grey on it so I was thinking of highlighting up the little raised nubs and cord looking things.

of course I'm terrible working of my own steam and find it easier to have simillar work to refrence but a quick google fu is only bring up the paint job and light job that's awesome but not simillar to what I want to do.

so tldr anyone have any pics of thier own or others they have seen that I can use for inspiration :3

I've seen a couple repaints here somewhere. Search a few pages back, you'll probably find 'em

would think a black one would look cool!! or a metallic olive green. Going to try the metallic olive green on a tie first to see how it looks.

I've seen one with 'red primer' type panels on, wasnt mad on that.

I think it *needs* to be big and grey as it puts it in the 'fleet ship' category.

I can see the deisre to detail, i painted my cannons black, thy look naff grey

If i did anything i'd repaint it to be the same blue grey my ties are or the same off white my CR90 imperial repaint is

I'm gonna use some oily steel paint to hit the 'Blade' areas.. the bow area that looks sharp, and goes back on both sides.. I think it will make it look like a knife cutting through space, then wash it in a dark color to darken it.. nuln oil probably. might pick out some panels for a lighter grey after the wash.

I did a very simple "upgrade" and painted command stripes on the front of one side. Looks good and calls it out as the squad leader.

I am doing this on all the flight leaders in my fleet.

thanks for the reply's, I'm happy with the grey its more just to make it spiced up and pop a bit more, I like the command stripes idea.

do need to go over and wash a lot of the groves that have been missed

I find what gives me a black wash almost idenitcal to the factory one is 'wargames foundry' make 'black' or 'charcoal black' (in the same three pot pallet pack) mixd to the consistancy of semi skimmed milk,

Wash it on, wipe it off with a tissue and you not only get the deep in line shade but you get that patchy smeary oily dirt look you get with the factory ones too. its not like the recesses are dead black but the main body stays pristine.

Pro-tip for washes; mix a little dish soap in your wash or brush water to help break the surface tension.

Citadel's Agrax Earthshade will also look good.
