Why the Rebels won
They didn't. Stop the propaganda already.
It was in the script.
As The Empire's Ministry of Reeducation has stated previously, the last half of Return of the Jedi was nothing but a poorly disguised, misinformed and traitorous Rebel propaganda Holo vid.
Nothing noteworthy happens in the last half.
The Empire has been Victorious on ALL Fronts! The Rebellion will be brought to heel.
The events of Episode VII will bring this to light.

I knew it was just a plot to get all upstanding imperial citizens to let their guard down!!
See what I did there!!
This made me laugh so hard
Once again, The Rebellion never won and I can't believe people actually think that. Yes, they won that battle, but winning a war against the most powerful faction in The Galaxy?
Pssssshh.
They won because of the sheer power and might of Wedge Antilles and Tycho Celchu!

They won because it was in the script.
This is no Game of Thrones or Warhammer story.
The protagonists never die and the "good" side always wins.

Unless you talk the later EU...
Honestly though when I DM SWD20 I do it in the spirit of the late, great Tom Clancy. Stormtroopers DO understand stealth and mixed unit tactics dammit.

I like to think it was the efforts of the one and only Booster Terrik, running around in a Star Destroyer so tacky the Imperial's white-addicted brains couldn't handle it.
Boom. Messy Imperial brains all over the place.
Or the Wedge and Tycho thing. That too. ![]()

Yeah but George Lucas never had the guts to kill off Chewie one of his favored sidekicks. You could put the EU almost in comic book timeline, other people take liberty to spike the story a little by making good guys turn bad heroes turn villains and main characters meet their untimely demise, but it can be easily written over.
Edited by MarinealverWell, until 2 years ago, even if you tried to write over someone's stupid story, you still had to make it plausible. And that included no actual resurrections if your name isn't Palpatine. So it's not quite the same as one of the two big superhero comic universes.
