Not especially tall, but combined with their length it adds up...
What you think? High end of Sil 1, or low end of Sil 2?

A speeder bike is silhouette 2, so I think species like Hutts, Herglics, and yes Sludirs as well ought to be 2. However, I think Hutts are going to be 1 in Lords of Nal Hutta .

The picture from that page at http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101216061115/starwars/images/thumb/c/c4/SkytriUAA.png/180px-SkytriUAA.png shows that they are 1.5 meters tall, which makes them shorter than Wookiees. Yes, they’re longer than Wookiees are wide, but I’d still put them at Sil 1.
That varying size listed is a HUGE range...
2.5 length & 2 height is more than double 1.5 length & 1.5 height. I would say their size can vary between Silhouette 1 & Silhouette 2.

In terms of species variation, human limits are under 60 cm and over 260 cm (according to Wikipedia ), so that’s more variability than the Sludir. Wookiees average 2.1 meters, but their max is closer to 2.7.
According to Beyond the Rim, a Ronto is Sil 2 , but according to Wookieepedia they average 4-6 meters tall. I’ve looked for other critters that are Sil 2 or would seem to be roughly the same size, but everything I find either has virtually no information on Wookieepedia, or seems to be either Sil 1 (e.g., Gundark, 1.0 - 2.5 meters tall) or Sil 3 (e.g., Rancor, 5-10 meters tall), but not Sil 2.
So, I’d be inclined to ask the question — is a Sludir roughly the same size as a Ronto, and therefore probably Sil 2?
Or, how about a Reek ? According to Wookieepedia, they average about 2.25 meters tall and 4.0 meters long, which is a bit larger than the respective top-end measurements given for a Sludir. Has anyone seen any official FFG stats for the Reek?

The chart on p. 212 lists Sil 2 examples as dewbacks, wampas, tauntauns, banthas, most riding animals. I my mind the emphasis is on the 'riding animals' making Sil 2 critters comparable to Sil 2 vehicles (i.e. speeder bikes). Page 212 also says "The most important thing to remember is that most characters are silhouette 1." Given that the adversary description of a Hutt Crime Lord on pp. 406-407 make no distinction of Sil, but the Captive Rancor does on p. 415 as Sil 3, there are two logical conclusions:
1. The Hutt Crime Lord silhouette was mistakenly omitted (unlikely since there has been no errata).
2. The hutts will still be considered Sil 1 in the upcoming book.
Based on the above, I think Sil 1 would still be appropriate for the Sludir Sil and remain in line with what the designers will release in the future.
Note that Bastion Kain has a really good Silhouette and Speed Reference linked from his page at http://bastionkainssweote.blogspot.com.es/p/referance-material.html
I think Domingo wins the cookie on this one. If a Hutt is sil 1, then a Sludir probably is too.
Thanks gents.

WWLSF?
To scale any creature, ask yourself Where Would Luke Skywalker Fit?

Don't forget: It fits on LUKE'S back = Silhouette 0.
So, if it fits in Luke's mouth, is it Silhouette -1?
