A New(bies) Hope - The Obsession Grows

or

"Just how many of these things can I get in one list?"

So... In my last thread (here's a handy link!)I began obsessing about the Great White Space Cow and looking at builds that could incorporate the mighty beast and the TIE Phantom. In that thread I happened to mention that I was also looking at playing the YT-1300 (**** Rebel scum!) and one of the ship builds that had caught my eye was the three Outer-Rim smugglers 'blockers' build. This involves running three YT's whose sole purpose seems to be to cause as much pain and frustration to your poor opponent as possible. With this in mind I started to think about a similar Imperial list, only this time including a nice 'flanker' to deal out some damage to the opponents ships. The result was this list:-

  • Omicron Group Pilot + Advanced Sensors + Navigator + Intelligence Agent + Anti-Pursuit Lasers
  • Omicron Group Pilot + Advanced Sensors + Navigator + Intelligence Agent + Anti-Pursuit Lasers
  • Echo + Veteran Instincts + Fire Control System + Rebel Captive + Advanced Cloaking Device

The idea behind the list is the two Shuttles running as much interference whilst the Phantom does its thing and whittles down the opposition. Thoughts anyone? ;)

It seems like a good match. The Shuttle is not good at turning around. If people were concentrating on something like a Phantom to wrangle, it could give the Shuttle more time before it had to deal with the problem. If people focus on the Shuttles and not the Phantom, then that gives your flanker free reign to punish them.

APL is so fun! I like to use my shuttles as line backers so I dig your list.

I recommend replacing advanced sensors with Enhanced Scopes, this has been working pretty well for me, moving at 0 ensures you move first, also increasing the chances that you won't be the bumper. Should also eliminate the need for navigator.

But the navigator will let you adjust to get in the way after you've seen where to go with the IA, thereby triggering the APL.

Though dropping to Enhanced Scopes would allow you to exchange the APL for EU.

Why have only two shuttles when you can have three? This is my favorite shuttle hoard build. It has some of the same strengths of the list you already have shown. What it gets by the adjustments though is a whole extra shuttle, and more consistent damage from the three of them. Soontir is very maneuverable (much like Echo) and has comparable firepower. The slight loss in movement and one die of firepower is more than made up though with another lambada choking flight lanes and Vader dropping unavoidable critical damage. Tons of fun. :)

------
Soontir Fel (30)
TIE Interceptor (27), Push the Limit (3)
Omicron Group Pilot (23) x 2
Lambda-Class Shuttle (21), Fire-Control System (2)
Omicron Group Pilot (24)
Lambda-Class Shuttle (21), Darth Vader (3)

Why only three shuttles when you can have four!? I enjoy flying them with Anti Pursuit Lasers and Fire Control System, although I might replace the APLs with enhanced scopes.

Actually that squadron with Soontir Fel looks pretty solid. I could see him really having a heyday with those shuttles gumming up everything.

Well, as I understand it, the GenCon 2014 winner used a shuttle build that looked like this, I believe.

------------------

"Whisper", Veteran Instincts, Gunner, Adv Cloaking Dev., Fire Control System

Soontir Fel, Push the Limit

Captain Yorr

------------------

Using the "Whisper" as the flanker and using Fel as an escort for Yorr, the build handed a double Chewie/Lando YT-1300 its pants after it finished spanking it. He basically eliminated the first Falcon as quickly as possible and then harassed the other to death. It was a fun match to watch, for sure.

4x OGPs

4x Engine upgrades

I really like

Omicron Group Pilot, Advanced Sensors, Gunner, Engine Upgrade (33) x 3

Works like a charm.

And then you can sacrifice a small amount of mobility for a substantial damage increase and stress removal for Sable's original herd:

OGP + FCS + Gunner + EU x2

Yorr + FCS + Gunner + EU (+ Int Agent or Initiative Bid, whichever you think suits you better).

OGP + FCS + APL x4

After thinking about what I'm hoping to achieve with the Cows and Test Pilots advice regarding Enhanced Scopes I've put together the following list - It's sole aim is to be a right pain in the *%£$! Two blocking, damage dealing Shuttles with stress relieving Black Squadron Pilots and enough points left over for an annoying blocker! I'm calling it "All Up in Your (cattle) Grill!"

  • Omicron Group Pilot + Enhanced Scopes + Navigator + Intelligence Agent + Anti-Pursuit Lasers

  • Black Squadron Pilot + Wingman

  • Academy Pilot
