ARMADA love over xwing?

By KILODEN, in Star Wars: Armada

I recently bought bunches of X-Wing stuff and I will probably keep up with it, though Armada looks like it will be better (imo). X-Wing is shorter and faster paced, so it'll be good for quick (1hr) games, while Armada looks like it has better rules and is far more strategic, so that will be good for spending several hours on (when one has several consecutive hours to spend).

I'm gonna finish buying the raider and the Scum stuff I pre-ordered from my FLGS. But after that with job issues and if the X-Wing community keeps with it's nose dive into being a bunch of arrogant buttheads it will probably turn me off X-Wing totally. As for Armada my dream is to make it to World championships with a Imperial fleet then do it again with a Rebel one so believe me I fully want Armada to grow and become awesome. I also want a community that can have a good throw down then have a beer afterwards and laugh at each other for making mistakes and help each other become better.

You just don't see those kinda communities anymore :(

You should make a facebook group. Because all of what you said Is exactly spot on with how I feel about this game and X-Wing

I guess your mileage does vary. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with the X-Wing community, and I have the same hopes for the Armada community-to-be.

At any rate, I think most people playing Armada will also be X-Wing players. Sure, there will be some newcomers, as well as refugees from X-Wing, but the bulk will play both.

I'm a bit late coming to this thread, but the more more I read about Armada, the more excited I get - sounds like it is going to be a lot more strategic than X-Wing. Assuming it lives up to expectations, I'm hoping to play it a lot more than its little brother and I'll definitely be spending money on Armada instead of X-Wing (I have a lot of X-Wing stuff so don't really need any more to play).

However, the amount I play is going to be limited by the number of people who get into it locally. Only a few people at my club have pre-ordered, but I'm hoping that when others see the ships on the tables pew pewing each other, that more will get involved.

I hear you. For a while I expect people to just be playing on my set until it gets some momentum going. That momentum will depend on how good the game is to play. It's not just going to get by on its good looks, I feel.

Aye, but capital Star Wars ships will certainly draw people in. I'm expecting my first game at my club to be full of interruptions from other interested gamers ;)

Let's hope so. My FLGS owner is definitely looking to do a demo on this game, as he's personally interested in it as well. I wonder what other stores will do to profile this game.
