I voted Lancer, but it might be too powerful for this scale. It was designed to chew up starfighters.
Imperial huge ship Poll
I gotta feeling the fact that its a dog-fighting game would lead to any ship with an anti-starfighter role to be more points expensive and less effective then what one would expect otherwise. Just like how ordinance is often considered a less efficient use of points.
Okay, this argument makes no sense to me. Sure, there are reasons that stuff might be over/under-costed. But your reasoning seems circular to me. Maybe you can show me the beginning and the end of it.
I wonder if the Gozanti is not doing well because people are voting strategically. I also assume that the Gozanti will be one of the ships to make Epic, but I voted for a different ship.
this is what Armada is for..Rebels have enough huge ships the Imperial needs a Capital ships and there is only 1 ship worth the title of Imperial Capital Ship.
Imperial Class Star Destroyer.
I don't know why chrome wants to shrink pictures.
personally I don't care if they ever do an imp huge.. I won't be using it anyway.. it's been so long the little interest I had.. is gone..
Until they include the **** Tie Advanced fix in it.
I'd be surprised if they did that. It really needs its own release, like an 'Aces' release.of course I could be wrong, and if I am, I'll figure out a way to get it without the huge ship included.. either trades or buy it from TC when they have a few.
The lancer is an obvious good choice for a imperial huge, and I do like the Gozanti as well, it has potential to be a fun addition to the game.
I went with Gozanti but I would like to have seen the Imperial Customs Corvette on the list. And isn't the Marauder corvette not more of a Corporate Sector ship?
One would make more business sense
It would be like the way you tend to buy a pair of core sets, xwing expansion and rebel transport to get the four xwings you can use max in a 100 point game.
If they sold one with a Gozanti then you'd have two from the core, one on the huge ship and it would encourage you to buy a tie fighter expansion to make up four.
Unfortunately, this is very true! I think two with the Gozanti would be more "cool" tho!
Not to mention it would get me closer to having a true Tie swarm without buying a third core set!
Hey maybe that means they could have an Imperial Aces with Ties too...Or one Tie and one XWing!

Its got precedent if ffg is going to give us a powerful ship/ability they make us pay for it with some kind of drawback. Its not going to be the ultimate table your opponent's squadron ship. Even the wiki page says that the Lancer was "too expensive" sure it has 20 quad laser cannons but have you read x-wings quad laser card? range 1-2, 6pts. That on a ship that was considered slow. Sounds to me more like a sitting duck then an anti-starfighter ship.
My bad i should have really added the ipv-1 & customs corvette. Gozanti seems to be pulling ahead now too.
Edited by DodtI voted Lancer, but it might be too powerful for this scale. It was designed to chew up starfighters.
I actually like that, as it makes it much more useful to have a long range Corvette on the Rebel side.
I do wish it were possible to target individual hard points on the Huge ships. But perhaps that would be one level of complication too far.

Okay, I think I see where you're coming from.
I don't think that anyone advocating for the Lancer is saying that there should be 20 hardpoints, each of which you can have quads on, for 120 points worth of upgrades. The MF also has two sets of quads, which the game treats as a single primary-weapon turret, with range 1-3. So too, on the CR-90, each hardpoint represents two firing arcs, and so it is divided by half.
Should a Lancer even have hardpoints? I mean if it did you could just load the thing up with turbo lasers to make it a cr-90 hunter.
What I'm kinda getting at is that the huge ships have -a lot- of drawbacks, they cant use focus, they have to manage their energy, the cr-90 has this lovely blindspot right behind it. A friend of mine paid $120 down under dollarey-doo's for his and he found it to be rather lack luster, to the point where he just would rather spend the 120 points on more starfighters. Maybe we'll see some new cards/rules with the newer ships that will make the huge ships better. But I'm not expecting any phantom or fat han style of power ship.
The only option.

Anyway ill go back to trying to be impartial about the whole vigil vs lancer thing (I did put the Lancer before the Vigil i'm not totally bias). Ill probably keep the poll open for about a month or so and see where we end up.
You know it to be true...

Yeah it did!

Well end of the first day up and the Lancer is trailing a lot further behind then I thought it would have been seems the Vigil and the Gonzanti are more popular picks.
Voted Nebulon-B2, with the original 1994 "only two shades of grey" texturing please
I would've also suggested the Carrack-class cruiser, but it's significantly larger than either the Lancer or the Vigil. Still, a cool old ship.
The motion is secondeded - Does the motion carry`?
Cant really change the poll options while its ongoing and i was trying to keep around the 250m mark so no Carrack or ISD or SSD either ![]()

Your votes don't add up.
This is the real poll results.

Guess that's what I get for 1am. I was mostly curious about the spread between the Vigil, Gozanti and Lancer.

It's not like any of the other choices were ever really relevant anyways.

Except that the other choices that "aren't relevant" added together beat the Gozanti and the Lancer.
If taken as votes against the Gozanti, which they are, then they bump the Gozanti down to third.
The fact that the "these suck" choice got almost as many as the Lancer is telling.
If you were curious about only those three then you should have put only those three on the poll.
It then would have looked more like this:

Except "these choices suck" is a vote against the irrelevants as well, which drops their total below the Gozanti.
(and if you want to be anal about it and bring up "these choices suck" not being one of the three, it's not a vote for a specific ship, which is what I intended with "other choices" although I guess not well enough for it to be obvious)
Still above the Lancer, but even I can admit the Lancer is fugly.
I said mostly not only. Feel free to run your own polls and interpret the data however you like this was just something to pass the time while waiting for a huge ship announcement.
Glad it wasn't the Vigil. That thing is ugly.
