Need a name for this upgrade, it affects the bombers of the game.

By Corellian Corvette, in X-Wing

Modification:

May only be equipped on ships with 2 or more [Torpedo] slots.

Action: Remove a blue target lock from another friendly ship at range 1-3, and assign it to you.

Additional Effects:

You may have one extra blue target lock token.

(need wording help, but basically may have one more target lock on your ship)

Double the maximum range of all [Torpedo] weapons equipped, up to range 5.

(Gives the weapon a longer reach for its points cost.)

You may have one additional different modification equipped.

(So B-wing with E2 is still a thing.)

So the main point of this card is to increase the range of torpedoes. And to do that, I would need to increase the range of target locks UNLESS i have it so they can take them from allies!

And it cost 0 points as you would need to spend points on ordnance for it to really work.

What Changes should I make to it and would you use it?

(feel free to try it out or make a card and print it, this is an idea for anyone to use and improve!)

You've overcomplicated it.

All you need is

"When acquiring a target lock, you may lock onto an enemy ship at Range 1-5 instead of Range 1-3.

When attacking with a [T] secondary weapon with range 2-3 you may treat that range as 2-5."

The title is "long range ordinance"

"Long Lance Torpedoes"

Improved Torpedo Tubes or something

When acquiring a TL, you may lock on from range 1-5
Double the range of all torpedoes equipped by this ship

I would be wary of calling it "double the range" as it would make APTs R1-2, which is not the point. I don't know how to phrase it, but I would think it would be a better balance if torpedoes at R2-3 became R3-5.

Off topic, this would also make ordnance in general worth taking. The main problem with ordnance at the moment is that it only does about 1 damage extra than the regular attack. But if you fired this at R4-5, then whatever damage it did was damage you would otherwise not have.

"Spotter"

What you guys said. "Long Lances" is nice... kinda. Or better yet say "Lances with the type". So a regular torp with these improvements are Lances or Lancers, while a ion torp would be an Ion Lance or Ion Lancers.

ZOING!

B-But spotting for extra range..! Joe, it's what Sniper teams do, and then they deliver a powerful round..!

In this case, like a torpedo..!

JOE IT'S PERFECT. ; _ ;

My suggestion is for target lock idea: Integrated Targeting Array

You wanna balance torpedoes, but leave out Advanced Torpedoes?

LANCES...

ADVANCED LANCES...

ION LANCES...

BUT SPOTTING

THE ABILITY IS LITERALLY SPOTTING

"Action: Remove a blue target lock from another friendly ship at range 1-3, and assign it to you."

"YO JONUS BRO HOSTILE AT TWELVE O'F*CKIN' CLOCK BRO"

"AIGHT COOL I'MMA CARRY THE WHEEEEEEEEEL" *fires torpedoes*

I'M 'Ah CARRY'n THE WHEEEEEEEEEL!!!

But it reads mo bettah when I do a Boss Edit...

Here is the one problem, only those with the Tantive-IV pack that cost $90 has the range 5 extension. The title for the shuttle allows for unlimited range.

However the problem with the torpedo weapons is not necessarily the target lock requirement, it is more of the one time use along with the token spending and range as well as the spent point requirement.

It currently would affect B's, Y's and TIE Bombers.

B's are strong, Y's will get a boost soon so why not make it a TIE bomber title?

This way, you will also not have a problem with astromechs, salvaged or otherwise, system upgrades and crew members and all possible interactions that might break them.

TIE Interdictor

Title, TIE bomber only. 0 points.

If an enemy ship has a red target lock, you may treat that as your own for an Attack (target lock) requirement.

When an attack requires you to spend a target lock you may spend a focus token instead.

If you attack with a secondary weapon, you may increase the range by 2 to a maximum of 5.

Wordy? Yes, a bit too much so for my taste. But this would allow you to send a high speed spotter up the line to paint targets and a shuttle with WE, Fleet Officer and ST-321 would really shine. It would also absolutely murder in Epic.

Now that I think about it a little more, I like it a lot. It would shake up the meta as low agility large base ships would need to destroy the spotter before the bombers get their shots off. Expert Handling would suddenly become a prized skill as well. Ion Pulse Missiles or Homing Missiles at range 5? Proton Torpedoes coming at you? Scary for any Falcon.

TIE Interdictor

whyyyyy

As a bomber variant from Battlegrounds, I'm not stuck on the name. :P.

Battlegrounds upgraded units by sticking more guns on them.

Yeah, I just went to Wookieepedia, looked up bomber variants and picked one, I wasn't going for any sort of lore-correctness here.

The name is not important, you don't need to argue about the name, we may go about our business. ;).

But it still was a great game, even with its continuity mess. (Advanced Gunships, or Gungan Birds anyone?)
