Is there anyone else out there that would like to see the SoB playable faction in this game? They need more love!
Sisters of Battle
Would they need to be an entire faction or would a warlord with specialist units not be sufficient?
Good question! As GW has the sisters right now, I don't think they have enough fluff to be their own faction. I would love for that NOT to be the case...but sadly, I don't think GW has any plans to help out the sisters.
It would make sense to me that they would either be a warlord for the IG or SM. If not that, then maybe it's own faction with the ability to pull from both the IG and SM. What do you guys and girls think?
The main problem with the Sisters being their own faction would be a lack of card support beyond (say) a deluxe expansion. Whose cards would you cut out from a data pack to fit them into future releases?
I really hope we'll see a couple of units and perhaps a warlord. It might take some time though as the current cycle and expected deluxes already have their work cut out in terms of expanding the core set.
What mechanics would you want to see on them to set them apart from other units seen so far in the game?
Edited by KhouriHopefully less of the "faith" crud and more zeal-based mechanics, the former always felt like a shtick to me.
An IG warlord + retinue from SoB would be sufficient.
My guess would be an Imperial Guard set of cards... or maybe "Imperial only" neutral cards.
I would love them to be part of this game, they will probably end up being AM like the Inquisitors but nontheless would be an awesome addition.
Gamewise I think they would fit between the Eldar and SM, which is quite the dangerous combination when you think about it.
Nontheless I do think they will eventually appear, maby not a full Warlord and such but I do expect a Sisters of Battle unit. Perhaps like the Dark Eldar one who returns an Event card...
Almost certainly will be part of "Astra Militarum", I'd say, given that we've seen the precedent now of an Inquisitor warlord in Astra Militarum. Entirely wrong from a fluff point of view, but an understandable compromise for the LCG.
The reason why I wouldn't expect them to turn up in SM is because of weight of fiction. There's way more written material and sculpted mini ranges given to the Space Marines than the AM in general, so it makes more sense in LCG faction balance terms to donate them to AM.
Of course, there's way more AM fluff than there is Tau or Necron fluff, so we'll see how they handle that over time.
I'm not even going to pretend I'm good at coming up with mechanics. I would like to see faith and zeal stuff incorporated. It would also be interesting to see how their mid-close range firepower might come accross in the card game.
In my opinion, seen as Torquemada, who is a member of the Inquisition, has been made an Astra Militarum Warlord, Sisters of Battle should be made also a new Warlord with special units and events.

Well you do hit the nail on the head on what they should do.
I honestly expect we will see more AM events who are mentioning the Wrath of the Emperor. As such I think Sisters of Battle would be a type of card that would return an Event card as a result.
Probably something along the lines of Cost: 3 2/3 Command: 1, Return the topmost AM event to your hand could fit. OR alternatively (because they fit between the Space Marines and AM) Return the topmost SM event to your hand, while being an AM card. This, imho would fit because the Sisters themself fit between Space Marines and the AM.

I too expect them to be in the forma of a warlord + retinue and cards from the AM. But using a restriction in the line of "you cannot include ork cards in your deck".

Yeah the AM and Ork alliance remains a strange one because in many situations the AM and Orks are in continious battle... So personally I don't think we will see that limitation...
I would like it if FFG printed the same vechicles for Orks however in a "looted" version. So basicly the exact same card with an Ork border (or cheaper but lacking command).
Wouldn't it be more thematic if it was an attachment that you could play on cards with the vehicle trait - in the opponent's discard pile - and then bring them into play under your (the Ork player) control that way?

Would be awesome and optional aswell altough in the miniature game they have no real way of doing it, I would be all in favour!
I know I always go back to the sabertooth games version but:
They had the sisters as specialist units in the general space marines faction.
The played on their affinity for flamer weapons by making their assault attacks target multiple units and they were generally faster than the regular space marines.
I could see them doing a special character for the marines as a sister with a retinue as the staple cards. A special flamer attachment or maybe an imolator tank or penitent engine.
I think it could be done fairly easily. Nuns with Guns!
Looking forward to the path they'll choose. I still think it would fit the AM better as I believe there is some hate between the SM and the Sisters, mainly because of use of power armour...
If you'd ask me a few months ago I would have said the Inquisitors would fit the Space Marines but as they did not do that I can see more power armour being present within the AM as a faction and thus Sisters probably will also end up in the AM soup that it allready is.
I think there is a good chance they are in the game in some form.
I would think AM most likely with their own Warlord and some supporting cards.
While I agree that they will likely be a AM add-on, I would prefer to see them as their own faction. I disagree with the argument that since the inquisition is getting added into AM, then SoB would too. The sisters of battle had their own codex and were their own army for a long time. They have kind of been forgotten about by GW. If FFG showed them some love by making them their own faction, then it would be well deserved.
I also agree with the post about SoB allying with Orks, it doesn't make sense fluff-wise. Not that Necrons allying with anyone does...
As a SoB tabletop player I would love to see them as their own faction but with the currant game mechanics they would play best as part of AM. For me the best option would be a new Warlord and a series of loyal cards included Seraphim, Immolators, and a "Flamer Advance" card that does Area Effect.
Sounds reasonable =)

The tyranid mind-slaver wants to know why no-one wants its company.
Back on topic, one suggestion that was raised on cardgamedb was of Warlords that specify their allies.
For example, it'd be awesome to see an Inquisitor Valeria who is noted as having Eldar as her ally. Likewise, you could have an SOB warlord that specifies your ally choice is Space marines. Late enough in the game's life cycle you could have an SOB warlord that says you can't take an allied faction.
Actually, on that thought, it'd be awesome if later on we get a Warlord for each faction that is sufficiently xenophobic to have the rule "no alied faction".

Just googled that. I guess I've been out of the tabletop for too long.
Prepare For War has some pretty sweet ideas.
Tekwych, as a current SoB player, do you have any ideas as to what mechanics would be easily incorporated into Conquest?
