[saving B-Wing] Repaints and conversions: Glued Fingers Blog

By ZupkaChinska, in X-Wing

Hi :)

Right at the beginning- sorry for my bad English. Foce is stronk in me but gramar not is :P

I'd like to present you mine creations, and also get your opinions about them. I play X-Wing since first wave, I'm making plastic models and I have mine small blog... you can figure out rest :)

Usually I post mine rebel fleet repaints, rarely small conversions (but I'm planning big one, you'll see it soon  ).

Last: click on the photo and this will take you to further description and more photos on mine blog :)

As a start I'd like to show you mine two latest projects:

1) upgrading HWK's engines with blue&white paints with a little help of mine wet palette (yup, I suppose star wars ship's engines aren't brown):

2) Saving Banana-Wing I got in Rebel Aces pack. I think that's because plastic blister which holds ships is made bit too tight. Anyway, here is short story:

Stop false stereotypes! Real B-Wings have curves :D

I used a Force:

And with a bit of Jedi techniques I restored a balance to this vessel:

If you liked this you can see more photos and longer descriptions on mine blog in an X-Wing tab (just click this glue tube):

Of course we have XXI century, so I also have Facebook page (whether like it or not):
All in all, it will be very satisfying for me if you'd leave any sign that anybody likes mine work :)
And, as a bonus for tenacious guys: mine Millenium Falcon modification ;)

Love the work on the HWK-290 engines and the B-Wing. Interesting color palette for the YT-1300. Clean crisp lines. Nicely done.

Nice work!

:D

Thanks! :D

Falcon is repainted in the same scheme as rest of mine fleet, although I've already bought new minis so there will be "second wave of repainting" soon after I'll finish mine mysterious B-Wing project :)

Very nice. I like that you've modded the b-wing cockpit to stay level in flight...:-)

NIce transitional wings on the b wing.

I find for minor 'bends' in some models...soak them in very hot water them slowly bend them to shape with needle nose pliers. Put tissue paper of soft cloth between the pliers and the model to get a strong grip withouth risking marking the model.

Good part is that you can simply cut off pilot's seats, no need to demolish whole top of the model. Than after bit of sanding you can glue it in new position

To "unbend" mine B-Wings I used hairdryer, as I described on the blog. I thought boiling water wouldn't be hot enough to soften this plastic. Thanks to you I know it's also working :)

Really liked the engine glow on the HWK. :)

yeah the HWK is sweet. I've foudn hot water just softens it enough, not quite boiling.... hot coffee hot.

You can actually nudge off the b wing cockpit if you slide a scalpel blade in the gap and waggle it, then if you sand the 'D' shape to a circle you can make the cockpit rotate where you like, like these.

Im toying with putting a plastic extension collar on a B wing to make a dedicated 'e2'. I never run more than one e2 and i've enough b's for three ship list so if i pick up another i'll make it a two seater.

Yup, that's also what I've done on mine repaints when was changing B-Wing's orientation.

But you know that's kind of stupied? There no "up" and "down" in space, so pilot can be in any orientation

I was also thinking about extending this canopy, but rather in mine next project (even more serious B-Wing cutting :P ).

Anyway, here are mine B-Wings repainted and reoriented:

Cool, love the 'hunched' y wing!

What does it represent?

Well, mine Y-Wing stands for... Y-Wing

Seriously, engine guards were so twisted that i decided to cut them off, and than i decided to cut it down even more.
