best small based ship/pilot

By Ihavebadluck, in X-Wing

Wedge in his X-wing. Hands down public enemy #1, for good reason too.

you also saying x-wing is best ship? or just talking pilot?

Yes. No matter what gets released, the X-wing will continue to do well vs. all opponents. It's a Jack of all trades/ master of none which leaves very few vulnerabilities unlike a lot of ships that need upgrades, crew, and titles to function competitively.

To answer the OP- best pilot is Darth Vader, and you can see that in the fact that he's still ok even flying a big pile of garbage.

Best ship so far is the YT-1300 by a substantial amount.

In terms of my personal favourites- the interceptor, and either Turr or Soontir as pilots.

My man,

I'll put firespray down as the best ship, but RE: vader, there's no doubt. Double action at PS9? I'd say that's better than Fel's ability. - It's better to get 2 actions consistently while not stressing than getting 3 only when you stress yourself.

Vader in an interceptor should be 30 points.

The Firespray is definitely a very good, solid ship- I'm quite a fan of Krassis with an HLC. But as good as the Falcon? The Falcon is a really, really effective ship and I don't think anything else in the game is close, to be honest.

didnt he say small based?

id pick phantom.

whisper as pilot.

biggs as probably the most impactful rebel ever. stil relevant. just not quite as ubiquitous.

Vader with EU, Outmaneuver and PR

Oh yeah. Oops.

I totally whiffed the small base part, too. Best ship is the phantom for sure

Best pilot ability comes down to Vader, howlrunner, fel and biggs.

so sad the defender isnt great at all. =(

really those ships should be much better than they are. Those flechette cannons better be **** good. If they aren't I'd call it a fail of design. Terribly useless ships at this point.

If you see the worlds thread, theres actually quite a few instances of Vessery Shuttle + something at worlds 64, but NONE of them got into the top 32. Gives you an idea of how badly that build matches against the meta.

Backstabber!!!

16 points for almost always 3 dice attacks at PS 6. Efficiency incarnate.

My favourite is the humble blue squadron. I've played that pilot in most of my games. My favourite named pilot is probably Jake Farrel. The A brings an niche no other rebel ship can fill and Jake doesn't break the bank (unlike Thyco).

Best pilot and ship , Academy TIE

X-Wing, Wedge Antilles

actually since we're considering pilot abilities in a vacuum (which in my opinion is not a good way to do this because FFG absolutely takes the ship into consideration when giving out abilities) then:

For Imps: Vader/Howlrunner depending on how many ships you're flying and if you're flying in formation

Rebs: Rebels actually have a lot of great pilot abilities--many of which seem bad but only because of the ship they're on. Horton Salm's reroll 2 blanks at range 2-3 is actually amazing but on a 2 attack ship with a crap dial. . .

Wedge is amazing of course, as well as Biggs and Keyan. I'd say those 3 are kind of tied for best on Rebs.

S&V: hard to say for certain at this point, but Boba Fett sure is looking amazing.

Maarek Stele, hands-down.

Now, now, let's not be hasty. We need to consider Fel's Wrath as well in this conversation--perhaps those two need to battle it out for ultimate supremacy. You never know, they might both die on the same turn...courtesy of Fel's Wrath's OP ability, of course!

I feel like you 2 are saying your least favorite pilots >.>

TIE Interceptor with Royal Guard treatment.

I want to say the Baron but he has died 70% - 80% of the time when I use him.

IM gonna have to go with Sabre 2 aka Major Turr. I rarely lose him and IVE gotten crazy KDR with him. Like I had 5 kills just with him in a match. IMP vs REB

Agreed, Vader is the absolute best pilot in the game. Sure, Wedge and Soontir are good, but an extra is clearly the superior ability. If only you could stick him in a Defender or an Interceptor...or a Phantom!

You can put Vader in Phantom.

Yep, you caught me... :D

Sorry, don't want to derail your thread.

Han is actually my favorite pilot of all time (on a personal favorite level), and he happens to be pretty darn good in this game as well. Ironically, I don't like flying Falcons that much, but I do it periodically just to be Han.

As for the ship, YT and Phantom seem to be pretty much on top of the world at the moment. Not saying I like it, just that it is the reality.

^ technically I meant small ship pilot as well >.>

Lately, Carnor Jax in a Royal Guard Interceptor is working really well.

Best ship: Phantom. It's not only highly mobile but also actually very cheap for all the possibilities it offers in movement and slots.

Best Pilot: Keyan Farlander. Stress-eating is just awesome but getting to focus your roll for if is godlike.

In wave 6 i might however switch to Palob Godhali. Stealing Evades and Focuses? Yes please... Gimme that Token and i will fire my Blaster turret at your actionless ship. Lolz! Opportunist candidate number 1 too, for some 4 dice blaster turret shots!

So much hate for Tycho it makes me sad :(

For the current fixation on Phantoms, Falcons, and Wave 5 ships sometimes in dual builds, there's no solution like Mux.

PS 0 is just a hilarious debuff whether you're flying a mini-swarm against a Phantom or a Big Ship or any high value target that isn't used to taking fire from 3-4 Z-95s before they've had a shot.

While the HWK is kind of crap as a ship, Mux's ability in combination with a turret and the trends of the current meta will make him one of the most revolutionary pilots and the scum HWK one of the most revolutionary ships.

Tycho's ability is great, but his ship holds him back. I considered Tycho here regardless, but Keyan's ability is very similar, yet you end the turn unstressed with his, so I'd say it's better.

oh forgot to mention when I say best pilot it doesnt necessarily have to be in the ship you consider best ship.

I did say considering the ship he is in didnt I?

Okay, color me confused. Are we or are we not supposed to consider the ship they are in, or JUST their ability???

Doh...small base. My bad. Phantom for the ship I guess, and my favorite pilot might be Corran.
