This is possible my favorite current ship to run. It;s just so freakin maneuverable.
After those protons fire, you're hurting for damage though.

I love that Jake build, but I'm almost always put in a moral quandary as to whether I should use Outmaneuver, or Vet Instincts just in case.
I agree that you're really banking on those prockets, and if your opponent weathers them adequately you're out of luck. Up against a swarm, you have a solid chance of a pair of one-hit KOs, and then relying on 2-ATK from there on out. I like the idea of Kyle tossing someone a Focus after they've bumped or Target Locked, that feels fun, but again unless you're converging on a single big target I don't think you've got enough power or bodies.
As for fixing that, you're in a tough spot, because 40 points can buy you three Bandit Z95s, but you're still topping out at 2-ATK. Switching Jake's Outmaneuver to VI would mean you can replace both Protos for Rookie Xs. Those same 42 points could also get you a Wild Space Fringer + Outrider + Heavy Laser Cannon...there's a couple different places to go I think.
