I've got a laptop that can handle an external monitor. There is a LCD TV in the gaming room which the laptop can hook up to.

What I'm wanting to do is to be able to display the floorplans on the external monitor. Then I want to be able to draw on the plans to show the action. Ideally use tokens or symbols to represent the action and the players/NPCs.

I know there is software which does this over the internet but I'm looking for a local solution. Though I'd be happy to make an internet connection to myself and fullscreen the browser, reading the plan off an internal web server.

Any ideas?

I 2nd maptool. I've used it for online games. It's by far the best tool out there.
