Scum List: Hydras of Binayre

By ForceM, in X-Wing

So in his great jousting analysis thread, MajorJuggler predicts some of Scums Pilots to be pretty cost efficient (well at least in jousting).

Because lately i have learned to value his calculations and actually mostly agree with what he has to say, i bring you:

HYDRAS OF BINAYRE

100 points

PILOTS

N'Dru Suhlak (19)

Z-95 Headhunter (17), Lone Wolf (2)

Kavil (30)

Y-Wing (24), Blaster Turret (4), R4 Agromech (2)

Palob Godalhi (27)

HWK-290 (20), Veteran Instincts (1), Blaster Turret (4), Outlaw Tech (2)

Binayre Pirate (12) x 2

The 3 named pilots are the ones he predicted to be very efficient with some of the equipment he found useful for them. As we don't know all the facts about Scum yet, i added 2 Binayre Pirates for good measure.

But if there is ever another pilot of up to 27 points offering itself to the task of being extremely efficient for its points, it can be added later when we know more about Scum. Outlaw Tech and Veteran Instincts are optional because i had 3 points left and get better action economy for them, and 3 PS7 pilots are more flexible to maneuver. You could go ham on Palob and give him all the goodies (Outmaneuver+K4) but you would only have 20 points left then. For those i would probably take an A4 Y-Wing with Autoblaster Turret.

I christened it Hydra squadron because it willbe a 3-pronged attack. The heads would be The 2 Z-95 together, Suhlak alone (obviously), and as the main event Kavil and Palob. They would draw the enemy behind them ideally while the rest picks on them. Alternatively if the opponent prefers engaging another element of your force first, you could get behind their line and murder them with your extremely powerful turret ships.

With a lot of the credit and thanks for his analysis going to MajorJuggler, i hope to test as well as enjoy playing this squadron as soon as we get Scum into our Hands!

I think it might be hard to get Lone Wolf to trigger with 5 ships on the table.

I think it might be hard to get Lone Wolf to trigger with 5 ships on the table.

3 options for your enemy:

- They collapse on him. Fine he is only 19 points and his squadmates will make them pay for it. Also if he gets attacked Lone Wolf is super useful

- They separate and send one ship to deal with him. Okay that ship won't hurt your expensive ones and maybe Suhlak will come out on top. He is cheap and effective at jousting while alone, he should be able to win or at least inflict some damage before dying, depending on what you duel against. You want exactly that to happen.

- They ignore him. Perfect! You slowroll towards the main fight guns blazing. After some turns you will perhaps lose your ability and Lone Wolf because you approach your pals. If they are winning, no problem as you will only make them win harder. If not, they will soon be dead and your abilities will trigger again. Or just pull away from the fight with your turret ships, make the enemy follow and pursue with Suhlak in a distance.

This looks like a fairly sound squad. Decent hit points. Good # of ships. Solid damage potential. Three strong contenders for enemy attention. The build on Palob is somewhat novel. He can move aggressively and get tokens to power blaster in two ways without actions.

I'll try this list.

My personal Scum list will be 2 Binayres with Deadman Switch, 2 without, and 2 Thug's with Ion Turret, BTL-A4, and Unhinged. 2 kamikazes rush into the mix daring the opponent to pop them, while the 2 plain Binayres block for the Y's, making sure they get optimal Double Taps. 32 Health and 16 Attack dice.

I'm so into this!

Consider what Sable said recently and replace VI with Determination and Outlaw Tech with Greedo on Palob. Danger is their middle name.

If i can get enemys to turn after Palob and Kavil i want to move away fast so that my other ships can get behind them, ideally while they are stressed...
