I always thought Kroot were the WH40K equivalent of Lizardmen personally.
Also no dragons? The Void Dragon would like a word.

Nah, kroot are originated from an avian species.
Is'nt that thing a c'tan?
With regard to new aliens, I had been hoping for a long time that GW would put out a Codex: Mercenaries , featuring 'minor' xeno races that could be 'hybrided' to existing armies. This would finally allow minis for aliens that have been mentioned for years (Hrud, Tarellians, etc), plus some new stuff. With the surprise inclusion of a bunch of new xenotypes in the last Codex: Dark Eldar , it seemed that the studio sculptors were really pushing for the chance to design some new races. But with GW now imploding due to a grocery list of bad decisions, that ship has almost certainly sailed...
Yeah i finally wanna see some Hrud and Loxatl brood!
And bring back Zoats and Squats!
I'd also like to see a full Jokaero army, but then some posters on this forum are gonna blow their brains out!

Not implying kroot are lizards, merely that they are what the WH40K universe has instead of lizardmen.
Does that make him any less of a dragon?

Well we have Loxatl broods, but they don't have any official minis yet, so i get what you mean. The Tau also have the 40k's version of bugheaded aliens in the Vespids.
Yeah because he's not really a proper dragon he's a star god that only chose to look like a dragon. (And don't bother pointing out that dragons can shapeshift... I know
)
What I'd like would be a race of interstellar/ dimensional dragons ranging in size from a Landspeeder to a battle barge.
(Kinda like what you get in the Cross Ange anime, before that show got weird)
There are plenty of xenos species mentionned in the HH books that could be interesting like the Nephilim, the Laer, etc.
You can also go with a lot of human factions that are to be conquered (like those in the first books of the series where the Sons of Horus where facing genetically and cybernetically transformed men).

I always thought Scalies are the 40k version of Lizardmen.
Yeah, yeah, they're mutants, but still - it's like Beastmen being the 40k version of Minotaurs.

Well Necromunda did state they were a stable strain of mutation so that could count i guess.
Ah yes the chaos beastmen/ imperial guard beastmen abhuman squads, one more thing that was retconned out the setting. To bad really.
But Lynata, you forget 40k used to have minotaurs!
No not those!

Aren't those Beastmen?
Man, I wish they'd still make Epic. It always seemed to be "the better 40k" to me. The current game is neither here or there - the best representation of the setting is mass combat a la Epic40k or skirmishes a la Necromunda, Kill Team and Inquisitor.

Those are Minotours. Chaos epic scale beastmen came on the standard 5 figure infantry stands.
The ones on the left with the red shields, those are beastmen infantry squads.
I liked epic to, it had all the models they couldn't make in a larger scale. Nowadays they can, call it Apocalypse and charge you 110$ for a Knight. Also with epic 40k, chaos SM formed only a small (elite) part a chaos horde. They had cultists, beastmen, daemons, minotaurs, trolls (yes they had those to!) daemon engines, chaos titans and Daemon Primrachs!
Edited by Robin GravesI see! Thanks for the clarification.
And yeah, I also understand Epic40k was the only game where you could actually use the various armies as how they were meant to fight. Stuff like Space Marines relying on their mobility and clever deployment, etc.
Unfortunately, my only actual experience with this system was the brilliant computer game "Final Liberation".
"COMMISSAR Holt!"
pfft more like minitaurs amirite!
*snort*
Never got to play it either, but i read a lot of battle reports in them old white dwarfs. And I tracked down PDF scans of the epic rulebooks (the proper epic with the square infantry bases, not the later version)
"Final liberation" Is that another euphemism for getting shot in the head by the commisar?

I suppose I can see how it could apply to being
discharged
from duty.
When Slitherine's Armageddon was announced, I had hoped it would play somewhat closer to this than Panzer General. Alas ... it was not to be.
