Imperial Assault is at my local distributor

By El_Tonio, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I think the consensus is no one knows when to expect it and everyone wishes that FFG did a better job communicating and hitting dates.

I was very hopeful that IA would be out in the US by now, but here we are. Now I just keep saying to myself "Just one more week". Still hoping that a miracle occurs and it comes out sooner rather than later. But the realist in me wouldn't be that surprised if what really happens is we don't see this until January now.

My shop in The Netherlands (Summoner) has just send me the package. Few other shops have a Saturday delivery. But in limited numbers.

They updated the upcoming page and still nothing.....and as you can see the new updates are for dec 23, so you pretty much can forget getting it by x-mas at least if you bought IA online..

Just wondering if those that are waiting, ordered via their local game store or online store?

I ordered mine at my local store a while back. Not when it was first shown, I waited a bit to see if I could afford it, and then asked them to get me one.

Now, I know my store got it yesterday, but they must have all been pre orders as they are currently showing as zero stock.

So, perhaps it may be down to local stores over online stores.

All the best.

Richard

I pre-ordered from my local store in the US, which ordered several hundred units (total) from multiple distributors . I run a lot of events there so the owner and I are close. He has no word on when it will be coming.

So the concencesus is Monday now?

Haven't seen anyone say anything to lead anyone to make this conclusion. There's no information out there at all.

Seriously? Chill, man. The post previous of mine said that it was pushed to Monday where they were and another said that they should receive their's in the post on Monday. I was just checking. I REEEAAALLLLY hope it is soon where I am. Like today...I've sooo excited for this one.

My local store told me there was a rumour that it would appear on Thursday in their store. They couldn't confirm while later in the day, I got a pm later that day it would be in, along with the Warhammer 40K WarPack and my Zombicide Dogs.

Looks like my local store has a better contact system.

All the best.

Richard

Found this on BGG

"Latest update from my flgs. (Southern California)

I just wanted to give you the latest update about the highly-anticipated release of Star Wars: Imperial Assault by Fantasy Flight Games (Descent meets Star Wars). Basically, the east and midwest warehouses already have their copies of the game, but the west coast houses do not. The game is locked up in the San Francisco and Long Beach docks, and it remains unknown if they will be unloaded before Christmas. Some of the distributors are beginning to send copies of the game from their east and mid-west warehouses to the western ones so they can release it at least partially. But FFG has not given the green light yet. I anticipate that we will get a limited release before Christmas, with the rest coming shortly thereafter. "

My FLGS has confirmed this, as well.

Giving a temporarily unavailable at the moment.

All the best.

Richard

But the realist in me wouldn't be that surprised if what really happens is we don't see this until January now.

I've fully accepted this possibility.

I'm no longer going to pop in on the forums, I just get more and more frustrated every time I check haha.

I don't even have the motivation to speculate or discuss about the game.

So I'm just going to simply wait for my local store to give a call, whether that's Monday or February.

It's a big disappointment, not because of the delay, but because I can't give my friends a day or two to plan ahead of time for a few sessions.

Looking forward to returning once we all have a copy in our hands! :D

I'm trying to keep this all in perspective.

In 21 days, I'll be as angry as anyone else, until then, FFG still has a chance at exceeding my expectations.

To be fair I don't think anyone is really 'angry.'

We are all Star Wars and Fantasy Flight fans after all.

Really, I think the disappointment from said fans on this and other forums is the lack of communication coming from Fantasy Flight.

This is NOT a critique in any way, just my opinion.

When I have been on the phone with Fantasy Flight or at Gencon they are nothing but great and genuine individuals, they show as much love of the hobby as we do.

The issue is that they suddenly are mum about Imperial Assault .

Take Paizo [Pathfinder] for example, they have a very active forum , about ten times the volume of Fantasy Flight. And the nearly everyone in the Paizo staff from shipping managers to authors to the publisher to the CEO Lisa Stevens [also a big Star Wars fan] personally respond to topics on their forums on a very regular service.

I am a longtime Fantasy Flight fan, and I will remain so, the Star Wars license is in very capable hands.

We are not asking for complete transparency here as this is a business after all, but a little bit of communication between them and their customer base would be nice since I spend a few hundred dollars on them yearly and endorse their products actively to new gamers and old friends alike.

Fantasy Flight knew they had a hit on their hands with Imperial Assault .

I just don't think they realized how BIG a hit.

Fantasy Flight underestimate demand, and shortchange supply. If you've been buying their card sleeves, that's not a new thing.

hoopfully i wil get it than

you lucky basterd :-)

Anyone in Germany had any luck so far? :(

I was told by my FLGS in St. Louis, MO, USA that we'd have it this week, and probably by Tuesday.

Update from my LGS (Bundaberg, Australia). We should have ours by the end of next week, at the latest, the week of xmas day.

I wont hold my breath waiting though.

Cheers

Here's to everyone getting a great big hug before xmas.

Cheers!

Amazon etc don't have it yet

Another shop I sometimes buy stuff doesn't have it (22 dec is the estimated date they have it in stock)

2 shops that aren't close by (we're talking 1,5 hours by car...single trip) have it.....but € 25 more expensive. Mailorder is possible, but I'd rather not order at shops I don't know.

Conclusion: I'll have to wait.

My LGS in Phoenix said the current expectation is that they will have it by Wednesday. Fingers crossed that this is true since the stories are starting to line up.

One store here in Orlando says they'll have it tomorrow.

I'm hoping that is the case, DF. Good Games whom I was going through said they couldn't till Jan/Feb due to distribution rights and The Combat Company who I am going through now (no LGS where I am) have no ETA. I would love it sooner than later, obviously!

Heya. Try Aetherworks. That is where my LGS has ended up getting it's copies from.

With a bit of luck my pre order may arrive on 22nd. Anyways 31st is as good as well I think ^_^

Finally it looks like waiting is comming to an end :D
