Does Boba have a place in the meta?

By Sixter, in X-Wing

Phantoms and super-mobile Dash seem very popular in the new meta (based on TC-Open at least). Does Boba with VI/Engine have a place in Decimator builds you think? PS10 is golden, especially coupled with a large ship boost ability. Then there is also the added flexibility with Boba´s dial ability and the rear arch makes sure you should get a shot every turn.

What do you think?

Something like this should be fun. Dunno about how competitive though.

Admiral Fett (99/100)

Firespray-31: Boba Fett (39 + 4)

VT-49 Decimator: Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46 + 10)

+ Weapons Engineer (3)

+ Experimental Interface (3)

I was thinking that the Firespray should probably be re-visited. The dual arc is good for Phantoms and Outriders. There are also a number of EPT's that have come out that can make a difference. What about Lone Wolf, Outmaneuver, and Predator? I think they make the Firespray overall more competitive.

Fettigator would also be good against a Phantom.

Gunship Boba: pure firepower.

3 x Obsidian Pilots for cleaning up the dross. (39)

Dash wants to stay at range of you, so does Han. This is 4 dice with a reroll on one at every range, with the speed to keep up. If you miss, gunner comes in for added insurance.

Pricey, but deadly and not the usual Fat Han/Fat Dash blah.

Also loves to eat Decimators.

what ive been thinking about lately. Firesprays are aleays strong

I think I'd rather spend 3 pts on Ion Pulse Missiles than mines, especially with Outmanuever. You know exactly where they are going to be to get within Range 1 and out of their arc.

Proxy is more for fat Han and vi dash I like to punish my opponent for the high PS. rebel captive can achieve the same as IPM unless they don't care about stress

I think the problem with the Firespray right now is that once you start loading them up they start to get expensive quick and the pilot abilities for pilots with EPTs are really situational. Once Wave 6 hits, you'll start to see lots of Firesprays on the tables. The Scum versions of Boba and Kath are going to be a lot better than the Imperial ones. Scum also has a low cost Firespray with an EPT which is something that the Imperials lack.

Imperial Boba may get a little more play trying to chase down Dash, but I haven't found a lot of situations where I have thought to myself "man, I wish I would have banked right instead of left". I'm sure it happens, but I would be surprised if it happens more than once a game. This could be because I tend to play the Firespray in the thick things, so I'm sure someone that tends to stay out in the open and skirt around the fight might get more use from Boba.

Funny this should come up today! I was creating some lists for our 150 point matches earlier today before I saw this thread and came up with some interesting builds including a Decimator, Firespray and Defender! Also, I had a Decimator, Firespray and Shuttle build!

I see the future having a lot more LARGE ship builds of all varieties and the synergy between them will cause some real issues for all builds! :)

The one build I want to try has Boba Fett, Captain Kagi and Captain Oicunn! :D

The other build is Colonel Vessery, Colonel Jendon and Captain Oicunn! :)

Yeah, I think Fettigator has a place if you want to chase down Outriders and Phantoms. And you really don't need more than Predator to make him good to go.

In a 50-point game last night, I used the following (and yes I posted this somewhere else today, so forgive me if this sounds like deja vu):

Boba Fett (39)

-Deadeye (1)

-Recon Specialist (3)

-Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)

It lets you get off a very painful alpha strike in which you're more than likely to get 5 hits. I would maybe pair it with a TIE swarm. Ideally, you can off one of the smaller ships early on. Barring that, you can really chew into a freighter with that shot.

I was really quite pleased with this list and actually used Fett's ability to change one of my banks. It made the difference between taking two TIE Interceptor attacks and having no shot to being able to take out one squint before it could fire. I think I actually used his ability a couple times, but that was the one that made the biggest difference.
