New bombs?

By Amgyn, in X-Wing

With all the talk about new damage decks and updates to existing ships - i really hope FFG updates the bomb arsenal available to players!

with the 3bank bomb placement on the new firespray pilot it would be nice to have a few more options for bombs.

A couple of friends were discussing new bomb ideas:

Ion Bomb: All ships at range 1 receive 2 Ion Tokens (or all ships at range 1-2 receive 1 ion token?)

Flechette charge: Range 1 All ships 1 suffer 1 damage and 1 stress token

Gravitational Bomb: All ships within range 1 do not perform maneuvers during the next activation phase.

Grav Well: Action: Place bomb that immediately detonates and perform a boost action. All ships within range 1-2 immediately perform a 1 maneuver (1 straight, or bank) towards the bomb.

Obstacle mines: Action: place a token (asteroid sized). This is acts as one time obstacle according to all rules. Once a ship/template overlaps it is removed from the board.

Garbage Drop: (0pts) discard this card, and place a garbage drop token, this token acts as an obstacle for the remainder of game.

We do need new bombs, but i'm not keen on these.

One for the scum faction, like the garbage drop I guess: Debris cloud, place a bomb token and at the end of the activation round exchange it for a Debris Cloud token. Cluttering up the battlefield and getting those nasty imps off your tail.

Anchor Mine

Place an Anchor Mine token (about the size of a prox mine), when a ships maneuver template would overlap that token assign an anchor token to that ship. As long as a ship has one or more anchor tokens all 3, 4 and 5 speed maneuvers are considered red.

Action: roll a green die, on an evade or focus result remove all anchor tokens from your ship.

I can actually see this as taking an Ordnance slot.

As an Action, spawn the Debris Cloud, and remove all Red Target Locks from your ship (as that thing in dogfighting where folks send out flares to break locks from missiles IRL. I don't remember what they're called, though).

The only thing I can remember from the books is the pulse-mass mine, which was a Hapan thing from The Courtship Of Princess Leia. It's essentialy a disposable-ordnance version of an interdictor's grav well generator - maybe have it limit the agility of anyone caught within range 1 of it?

Stress bomb. Stress bomb. I want a stress bomb.

You can give me tokens when you blow that stress bomb.

Also, Thermal Detonators. They would get dropped as a cloud from the Bombers, and they're the only Bomb mentioned on Wookiepedia that they're mentioned dropping that isn't in the game yet :)

Buzz droids.

Proxmity Turret:

Automatically shoots 1 attack die at the nearest enemy ship at the end of the combat phase.

pew pew!

Cluster Bombs

Before you reveal your maneuver dial place 1 token each at the end of a [bank left 2] [straight 2] [bank right 2] maneuver template.

At the end of the activation face roll 1 red die for each of the tokens. Ships within range 1 of that token suffer all damage rolled.

This needs work, multiple small bombs, not a lot of damage.

DP's Thermal Detonators are like this as well.

with Scum I think they could have a "Buzz Droid Cloud." The Scum faction had those in Empire At War. Basically the template is the size of the proximity mine. If you fly through it you take a buzz droid token.

Would have some ongoing effect like flip damage cards face up each turn or something unless you did something to get rid of them. If you bump a ship they also gain a buzz droid token.

I like this simply because the mine fields in the TIE Fighter PC game were such a big deal and it's part of that world that is missing from the X-Wing Miniatures game.
