YT problem

By Ichiyo1821, in X-Wing

I've noticed a lot of builds for the Decimator for all three unique pilots but not for the YT-2400. I am aware that the Decimator does have overall better abilities but all the builds for the yt are all the same and on top of that the wingmen that accompany the YT are a mess. For the first time I think I reached a creativity gap for Rebels.

The only lists I seem to end up with are protypes with refits in combination of q headhunter or with a yt-1300. And yet none of the lists seems quite right. I actually think my current fave of BBZHWK is more competitive against the slew of Decimators that are circling my playgroup.

Has anyone come up with a more consistent YT build that doesn't get bucktoothed when facing Decimators with atleast Ysanne and Rebel Captive? Hyperdash as people call with gets tricky but still manageble which makes me want to lose the third action with Kyle and just go recon spec.

I've only played with the Outrider 8 times and lost 2x to a Oicunn captive+Yorr, hlc ,Vader and twice to a FatHan.I am wondering if Engine Upgrade is a true neccessity to it.

Well they have only been officially released for a couple of weeks. There hasn't been that many tournaments with them yet so people are still trying to figure out what builds there are.

But relax, a little diversity is not killing the game, IMHO I think it makes the meta more interesting as you can't easily predict what will be flying your way and have to build against strategies instead of ships/pilots.

And that's not to say there is no diversity in the Big 3 for the Wave 4 meta. Not all Fat Han builds had the exact same list, same goes for Whisper lists. There is even 2 different builds for Tie swarms, I think a good expansion pack build is when there is no specific win all pilot + upgrade combo. So far it seems to be alright.

because the Decimater is cooler looking..... and when you win you can say you Decimated your opponent!! It just sounds so much cooler than saying i Dashed you..lol

I think the longer it takes for the Meta to determine "THE List", the better! I find it a lot more interesting to go to a tournament or "friendly" and NOT have a pretty good idea of what I'm facing. Yeah, I know that knowledge is power, etc... and knowing your likely opponent gives you an advantage but... I guess I just revel in the chaos of NOT knowing and enjoy discovering new possibilities.

Well the yt has a pretty big weakness people know how to exploit, a three high ps interceptor list will eat him alive, whisper will slaughter him.

Finding the right list to counter that weakness is taking a while.

The decimator has no agility but the ways to counter that are out there, with expose its got equal firepower to the yt at 2-3 and five at range 1, and it's designed to take that beating.

I've only flown it a few times, but I really liked:

Fringer; hlc, outrider, dash

Dagger Squad; adv sensor

sensors

2x Tala

I've flown Leebo 3 times this week and won with all three games, twice vs. Decimator plus some sort of interceptor/defender/phantom combo.

Twice I used the donut, once without, and all three times I used Lando.

Here is a pretty picture of the 1st game. I paired Leebo with Jake Farrell and Kyle Katarn in all three cases.

That starmap is a thing of beauty, although I look at the state of that Lambda and shudder in horror. :P

I have an idea I'm going to try sometime.

It's a YT-2400 with Autoblaster, Jan with an Ion and some Z's. Idea being that Jan can ion something, letting the YT get to range one and unload on it with 4 dice.

Not sure how well it will work, but going to give it a try.

Cracken and EU on the Outrider might be cheaper. Readjust position in the Combat phase.

Here's the list I have in mind.

Wild Space Fringer, Autoblaster, "Leebo", Outrider, Tactical Jammer

Jan Ors, Predator, Ion Cannon Turret

Bandit Squadron Pilot x 2

Idea is to keep Jan at range 2 from stuff, but block her with the YT, so Tactical Jammer kicks in, keeping her alive. She gives a extra dice at range 3 so she can float around a good bit.

Man, Vrill just screams for a Rebel equivalent for "Rebel Captive".

Except that the Rebels would never put a captive in harm's way and the Imperials would shoot anyway, if they did.

The yt problem is people are realizing dash isn't nearly as good as they thought he was gonna be. Ps 7 and a range 1 blind spot is a glaring weakness.

Correction: One specific Dash build isn't nearly as good as people thought it was going to be.

The donut is not that horrible or such big issue if you have a PS10 corran as a bodyguard.

My son has been using one and two YT2400's with As, Bs and a Z in various 150pt builds! I think if he zeroes in on a Yt with two As w/ PTL and a couple of heavy Bs, he'll have a killer of a list!! He just needs to learn to fly them a bit better!

How about

Eaden-Gunner

Nera Dantels-2 Flechette torpedoes, munitions failsafe

Wedge-Predator(or maybe Swarm Tactics to let Nera fire at 9 vs Phantoms)?

Obviously, you wouldn't want to waste the torpedoes on the decimator (or a firespray/lamda) but it should serve as a nice alternative for the escorts a 1-2 punch stress torpedo and then Eaden, the gunner would help mitigate Isard so there is that at least

Edit: Or Wedge can take VI and Nera can take Decoy, now she can shoot at 11 and push the range between them out to r2

I think I like this better. Ions provide lots of control and make it harder for the enemy to actually shed stress.
