My YT-2400 List "Dash and Jan"

By Keiththegamergeek, in X-Wing

Here's what I came up with, I couldn't find where it had been mentioned before, maybe it was and I missed it, but anyway:

Dash Render (36)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Assault Missiles (5)
Lando Calrissian (3)

Outrider (5)

Experimental Interface (3)

Total: 60 points

Jan Ors (25)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Nien Nunb (1)

Moldy Crow (3)

Shield Upgrade (4)

Total: 39 points

What's attractive to me is, as you've probably guessed, is Jan giving Dash another attack die, giving him 5 with his HLC.

Aye, but she's nigh-useless after Dash dies. I see no reason to spend red-dice on her, unless the alternative is not to shoot.

Jan's Ion Cannon can also help slow enemies down to keep them out of Dash's Range 1 blind spot.

I like the concept. I'm not sure I like the execution of the idea.

To the drawing board!

Give dash oppertunist! 6 attack dice, ho!

The thing I've found, the couple times I've played with the HLC/Outrider combo, is that you really, really don't want to be stressed. Its very tempting to put PTL or Experimental Interface on it for the extra action, but doing green maneuvers to shed the stress makes it too easy to get caught at range 1. Adding Engine Upgrade can really help in a pinch.

I like it. I have seen this used a few months back to pretty frightening effect. Jan is great, and Dash has to die, but he might actually be the most noob friendly ship in the game, so doesn't. However, I don't think you built it right. Try this:

Jan Ors-predator, stealth device, recon specialist, moldy crow, blaster turret

Dash-push the limit, nien nunb, heavy laser cannon, title, engine upgrade, ion pulse missiles.

Dash runs away, and Jan follows after him, staying within range 3, but playing clean up on what he doesn't kill.

I think most people who have faced the Super Dash, would disagree with you on the stressed thing. Super Dash is a Dash with Outrider, Heavy Laser Cannon, Push the Limit, Kyle and Engine Upgrade. The free focus you gain from flying green and the non limiting effect of running over Astroids makes it harder to predict where the flying saucer is going to end up. Often you will spend your 2 actions boosting and Barrel rolling over over the place.

It's not easy to counter Dash's fat-base displacement plus obstacle ignoring with any less than like 3 ships, and that's assuming he doesn't just do a white to throw you off your game (or packs nien numb for those sweet straights)

If your that afraid of getting caught at range 1, then put Nien Nunb on the Outrider. Sheds stress while moving fast, but you'll be losing the focus that Kyle(crew) would give you

1. He costs the same

2. He gives focus when doing greens, which Jan needs to do a lot.

3. If you do a green and bump a ship or asteroid, you still get focus.

4. If you don't bump you can just focus again for 2 focus anyway, but you could also TL if you have enough, or boost if packing Engines.

5. It costs the same!

6. Kyle is way cooler than a person with binoculars.

Recon specialist is only better on a ship that never stresses itself. My take would be:

58: Dash w/ Outrider, HLC, Rec Spec, PtL, Engine Upgrade

42: Jan w/ Moldy Crow, Kyle, Blaster Turret, Predator, Engine Upgrade

With this build, super dash does all of his action economy shenanigans and pounds away with 5 attack dice.

Jan follows close and blasts anything in Dash's shadow (of the Empire). With blaster turret backed by focus stacking and predator, she presents a legitimate threat after Dash dies.

I came up with a Jan and dash list but slightly different

Dash

Ptl

Proton rockets

Kyle

Hlc

Outrider title

Engine upgrade

Jan

Veteran instincts

Chewbacca

Ion cannon

Engine upgrade

Don't put prokets on dash, it's hard enough getting small ships into position to use them on dash it'll be wasted points most games.

If you're not using Kyle on Dash, he should absolutely be riding with Jan instead of the recon specialist.

I gotta confess, I have no idea what the Kyle crew card does. I don't own any wave 5 ships and don't pay much attention. But my thought process is, crew is easy enough to switch out based on preference.

I beat a squad very similar to this using Vader (TIE Adv), Fel, and Turr. I feel as though Dash just can't handle doing all of the shooting himself, if everyone moves toward his R1 bubble and doesn't bump, he is in huge trouble.
