Piggy + Experimental Interface = fun?!?

By ForceM, in X-Wing

I was thinking about something in this category:

Jek Porkins (34)
X-Wing (26), R5-D8 (3), Expert Handling (2), Experimental Interface (3)

In this version Piggy would simply always say no to stress and take the possible damage. Then during your turn he would be able to possibly repair a damage with R5-D8, plus take another action with Experimental interface and deny the stress again.

Expert handling just works like a barrel roll in order to arc-dodge if he can, and with the stress being denied again, you could even use the Interface afterwards for another free action.

Okay, i am not saying that it's super effective, but it's pretty funny as a combo.

Another one:

Jek Porkins (35)
X-Wing (26), R5-D8 (3), Push the Limit (3), Experimental Interface (3)

Here Piggy would get some more punch and lose some mobility. I don't know if this actually permits you 3 actions or if for some reason it wouldn't work. Normally you would focus, then get a Target Lock via PtL. You deny the stress with Piggys ability, and off the last action you performed you trigger Experimental interface to make R5-D8 repair something if you took damage. Then you can again deny the stress with Piggys ability. Right? Or am i overlooking something?

Do you have any better idea how to use him? Let me know it please!

It definitely works, because the only thing preventing the third action is the stress token which goes away. At the FLGS, we often plan 35 point furballs and that is my go-to when Soontir is already taken.

Whenever you use Porkins' ability, you only have a 37% chance of taking a hit. If you use R5-D8, it's only a 12% chance of keeping that damage. I think that's pretty good. You can also use R5-D8 on further rounds to remove the damage (or regular damage).

What about dropping the EPT and going with just his regular abilities? He would be at 32 pts and always get to try to remove damage!

When you say Piggy, I think the Gammorrean from the X-wing book series

I agree.

Sure, his name was Porkins, but heroes go by many names.

And he should be referred to as a hero for the hero that he was.

And after reading the title of this thread, I thought Experimental Interface was some fancy way of saying Conch.

I read all the X-Wing series... well until i was very disappointed with the last book recently which featured "Piggy" saBinring as only Member of the original Rogue Squadron.

Porkins gas been known for much longer as "Piggy" though!

Well i like to at least have the extra mobility from Expert handling, plus making it nearly impossible to pin him down with missiles as he will just slip out of the TL if you try to. I think that that's really my favorite build for him at 34 points. It's absolutely bonkers when Porkins Focuses and rolls out of someones arc like a pro. Later in games you can just concentrate on repairing him hardcore.

At the very least i would take Determination on him, because A) he ignores a third of all crits you deal to him on top of repairing non-crits, and B) he cant lose his pilot ability!

For the same points you could have Keyan with stay on target and advanced sensors - no contest!

I know, but i run Both of them in my "No stress!" Squadron! Also, that's probably the absolute best build for running Farlander! No PtL, but absolutely ham on mobility!

I'm not sure if I see the point.

You use expert handling, the stress may be turned into a damage card, use experimental interface to get another action, which is another potential damage, just to use the second action to get a chance to remove one of the damage cards with R5-D8?

Not sure if my math is correct, but shedding two stress, you have a 60% chance to get a single damage card, plus a 13% chance to get two damage cards. Then you have a 62% chance to get rid of a single damage card.

Even though it seems fun, I wonder if it is worth it.
