Bodyguards

So, Bodyguards have a talent where they can take strain to upgrade attacks to the person they are guarding. NPC's with ranks in Adversary can also cause upgrades to incoming attacks. So, am I right to assume that a powerful Black Sun Vigo with Adversary 3 can have a few bodyguards with ranks in Body Guard each and this can cause you to upgrade incoming attacks 5, 6, or 7x's or more (given the right initiatives, and such)?

I would think that it's pretty tough to get to a powerful NPC with such protection.

Yup. That’s why the people who would go after someone like that would have a lot of talents to help remove some of those setback dice, and they’d have enough skill in the other areas that they wouldn’t have to worry about the remainder. But then they’d probably be some of the best assassins and hired guns in the entire Galaxy.

Just the sort you’d want to hire, if that was the kind of target you wanted taken down. ;)

Or why you take out the bodyguards first.

Wouldn't the bodyguards have to be able to voluntarily take Strain though to do this and therefore the guard would have to be a Nemesis in his/her own right? That'd be a stout group to take on.

Alternatively, it might be neat to run such a group as a squad; I think that might be a bit lighter on bookkeeping while still giving the Vigo a good meat shield.

"GM's can decide to track strain on certain rivals, even though this is not the norm."

Also, rivals can take strain, it's simply converted to wounds. Sounds like a good, challenging boss fight.

Since Body Guard (the Talent) works against both ranged and melee attacks, it's really nice. What can be really nasty is if your have a unit of bodyguards (two or more) with the talent that all use it to protect one another.

So that is how you would do Imperial knights. All take the bodyguard talent and an appropriate lightsaber form and have sense. nasty.
