Roll 4 attack dice and the defender takes how ever much damage is rolled then on top of that recieves an ion token as well as the range 1 ships. Or does it act like ion cannon only take - damage and ion token. Do the range 1 ships take 1 damage as well as the ion. The first one is prolly right but it goes against ion cannons wanted to make sure
How does the ion torpedo work?
Spend Target Lock
Roll 4 Attack Dice.
Deal Damage as normal.
If the attack hit, the afflicted ship and every ship at Range 1 of them gets an Ion.
I guess ruthless would be nice too.
I understand the OP's question, because every other ion weapon has set a trend that Ion's usually cancel their dice if they hit and then apply effects, etc. However this weapon is unique in that the receiver takes normal damage.

Ion torpedoes is a torpedo secondary weapon that behaves more like a weapon without the cancellation of the results that all other Ion weapons have. So it is possibly the simplest weapon. Think of a Assault missile combined with an Ion Cannon combined with a torpedo.
Well okay it does the standard attack for torpedoes: spend TL, discard card, roll dice, compare results, then apply hit effects (if any and if hit). The hit effect for Ion torpedoes is every ship within range 1 of the defender gets an ion token and that is it.
All other ion weapon when it comes to hit effects the hit effect cancels all damage, then does 1 damage and 1 (or more) Ion token.
oohh that is a lot nastier than I thought... can see some use for this.
Important safety notice!
Ion torpedoes can deal ion tokens to friendly craft at range 1 of the defender.
The Ion Torpedo is also the only torpedo which doesn't have a mechanism that makes it easier to hit with. It's an odd duck.

You have aY wing , Decimator, or Firespray in joust position with a formation. Fire that torpedo at the least agile or mossy valuable target, then drop a bomb and bug out. The formation drifts into the mine, and you laugh maniacally.

Flechette? Not that anyone cares if it hits anyway.

This would be Jonus then
It's an assault missile that has ion AoE instead of damage AoE.

You put the reticle over the target wait for it to lock on then pull the trigger, then sit back and let the storm troopers perform the capture operation.

Only thing they'll be capturing is a washing machine when they all soil they're briefs after I ion they're entire wing of TIEs right past the eager guns of the my B wings.

Hah those slow b-wings crumble easily under the guns of the tie defender, it must be awful making do with substandard fighters when the Empire produces the best ships.

Cost efficiency, my friend. We're the rebellion that is also smart with it's money. Our tax plan would take money away from independent military contractors and put it back in the hands of civilians. Let's allow people to decide what they want to do with their own credits.

Only because it's insulting B-wings, I like it. (and Defenders are a lot more awesome then people make them out to be)
