Black dice do most damage, it makes no sense to have them represent small lasers
So far small lasers are represented by blue dice.

Have you seen how much damage the falcon's Quads can do?
Anyways, cool discussion. I personally would reduce the amount of dice the immobalizor throws to 2 per side and 1 at the rear, and make them blue or red dice.
A anti-squadron armament of 2 black seems really cool though, not for the other vindi's but for the immobalizor it seems fine.
Then their is the standard Vindi and the Carrier variant, which has the firepower of an immobalizor or less.
Its hard to represent a short range variant as the dice do not reflect the weapon being fired. However, that said, quad lasers can unleash hell at close range. Since they are limited in that capacity, and the ship throws no dice with accuracy results, defense tokens will be quick to mitigate the damage.
And the beauty of it all is we can disagree
Once the Gravity Well Projector card hits home, the ship may not get to use its black dice at all in many games. You may also find a kitted out Immobilizer is a rather costly weapon, with less firepower then a Victory-I. It is on a medium base as well.
Anyway, I soldier forward, not ignoring the suggestions I might add. But many play tests are in order.
Hey guys you might want to check out this guys stuff. http://www.shapeways.com/shops/mel_miniatures?section=Armada+Ships&sort=
sorry bout a second post that says the same thing. But Mel at shapeways has some pretty awesome vindicators and interdictors that are to scale to the victory.
Edited by Omen86I have one of Mel's Interdictors on the way and there's a pretty active thread on that ship's stats/abilities on the painting/conversions forum.
I'll probably pick up one of his Vindicators next...
I also pondered about the best way to represent the quad laser cannons for my take on the 418. Ultimately I went for blues, because I felt they best represent the accurate but low(-ish) damage discharge. But I can certainly see the other side of the argument, especially as regards range.
The only place where I'd actually disagree with WJ's proposal is the choice of black anti-squad dice. Having no accuracy symbol means absolute impunity for fighters with Scatter (or other defense tokens), whereas QLCs were installed precisely because they provide accurate anti-fighter defense.
Having said that, I'd be totally OK with slightly deviating from the canon (or, should I say, legends) for the sake of gameplay. It would make perfect sense for WJ's version to represent early-model 418s, with later models or refits using upgraded laser cannons (and/or fire control systems) which merit blue dice.
So how about giving it one black and one blue dice for anti-squadron instead? I forgot about the accuracy result lacking on the black dice?
Edited by Wes JansonThat'd work. It would only be able to damage Scatter squadrons at close range, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
