Does anyone know the ship on the cover of the book?
It's a PTB-625 Heavy Bomber. It's actually an atmospheric craft.

I've seen the new weapon the longeing whip. Been trying to find the details and stats on it for my scout. If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Is it like the neuronic whip? Or like a shock whip? Just wondering how it's described in the book.

It's pretty much like this . Nothing real special, just a standard whip made out of durable Star Wars materials meant for training.
I think I am going to buy this now, mostly 'cuz my fiancée likes Chadra-Fan.
I like this book. I might be writing up a rigger. Especially since last session ended off with my psychopathic medic droid riding a flaming T-47 to its death.
I don't know if this question came up when the book was first announced, but why do you suppose Fantasy Flight Games included the Dressellian species in the Ace career sourcebook? Dressellians start off with a technological disadvantage and the Ace career (Beast Rider notwithstanding) is one of the more tech-focused careers. What's more, the Dressellians in Return of the Jedi were part of the Endor strike team--why was this species not saved for the Soldier or Spy book?

Because the Dressellians are a good fit for the Beast Rider career, and each of the career books seems to aim at introducing new species that are good iconic examples of the new specializations (specifically thinking about Stay on Target, the Dressellian Beast Rider, the Chadra-Fan Rigger and the Xexto Hotshot).
Because they take a look in which context in the original trilogy the species appeared in- FFG wants us to remember scenes from the movies when we look at these books. Pruneface was present in the briefing where they took on the second Death Star. That's Aces for you (even if Pruneface himself didn't fly.)
I think the soldier book will have Ewoks (I am serious.)

I don't think this will happen. Ewoks are a little known race (especially in canon) that has no off world presence at the time of the setting of the game...
Edited by DanteRotterdamSince Devaronians didn't pop up in the Smuggler book, I wouldn't be surprised if they show up in the Soldier career book based on the presence of one or two Devaronian SpecForce characters from the Expanded Universe. I also wouldn't be surprised if Wookiees make their Age of Rebellion debut in that book.
Instead of Ewoks, I can maybe see Gungans in the Soldier book.

I would have preferred Gungans to Dresellians for the race linked to Beast Rider in the Ace book.
I think the soldier book would be a great place to introduce the ewoks.
A specialization of Savage warrior or primitive warrior or the WEG tough native would fit the ewoks.
[The spellcheck on the forums wants to change ewok to wok. Maybe I should trademark that name and license the furry little critters for my new brand of electric woks!]
[i gladly accept the title of the first person to ever tell that joke. Thank you.]

I agree. Gungans were observed in the films riding one of the beasts made available in Stay on Target . Dressellians, meanwhile, are described as guerilla fighters who defended their world against the vastly superior Imperial forces, and the few Dressellians shown in Return of the Jedi were dressed in camouflage for the Endor assault.
I have not been very impressed with AoR as a whole. This book did not fix that opinion. I wanted a spec that would make a starfighter pilot to be a playable character from the start. The way the starship rules are, if you put Grandmaster Luke Skywalker in his X-Wing in a battle with 3 tie fighters, he is going to lose. There just isn't enough character skill in the defense of starships. This would have been a great opportunity to give us a spec that specialized in starfighters. Hotshot is not it.
The starships in this book weren't that interesting. The weapons felt like mandatory scope creep and the races were uninspired.
I compare the Star Wars rules to the Palladium RPG. It works in one instance and everything else produced has to be hammered into that instance instead of adopting something that works better.

I couple months ago I would've never agreed with you. Now that beast riders are in the space ship pilot book, I think you're on to something. There will be some sort of primitive race in that book and Ewoks are a fan favorite. (At least they seem to be because it's the first species people go with for joke characters.)
Yeah I personally think it should be harder to hit fighters then it is. That said I loved the selection of ships in this book. It had 4 of my 10 favorite EU fighter designs in it, 3 of my top 5, and two of my top 3 including my favorite Star Wars starfighter.
Ewok would be a fun species. I had a devastating Ewok commando/adventurer in a Saga campaign. We used tons of House-ruled talents and feats including a tree dedicated to making a stealth specialist like my Ewok more dangerous,
For some reason I though you were saying that your Ewok brought a tree (trunk, branches, leaves, etc.) with him on adventures. Not saying that's totally out of the question, but the encumbrance is probably a little high.
I wouldnt be against having player species stats for both Ewoks and Gungans. Ive had players in older Star Wars games that have played both and for a while now Ive had ideas for a Ewok Jedi for a game one of my brothers wants to run that is set some two hundred years after the movies.
That being said I find it unlikely that we will get Ewoks in the soldier book since they are rare in the Era, but I do agree we might see a "primitive" species option. I am hoping for the Gungans myself for the soldier book, but also find it unlikely due to the massive prequal hate that many fans hold to.
And speaking of Stay on Target, my copy should arrive within a few days, but Im curious if the Kaadu is amongst the beasts? There has been a little talk about the beast rider options but what Ive read people have listed a few and then gone "there are 16 other animals to ride". So curious if its amongst them. Already going to play one Ace character soon, but starting to feel that a beastrider would be another cool option.

To be honest though, I don't think Gungans aren't even hated that much, it is just Jar Jar that is...

Yes, the kaadu is among the beast species listed as potential riding mounts. Overall, I was surprised at how much info went into the Beast Rider category, so much so that I think that is my favorite part of the book. There was only one obvious omission, I think. In the write-up for the Dressellians there is a sidebar for the Selldu Rangers and it describes the selldu creature that Dressellians used in combat. Problem is, there are no stats for the selldu in the book, so you'd have to borrow or modify the stats from a kaadu or thumper or something.

At least with the people who can differentiate between a single individual and an entire race.
I'd love to see Gungans, just to see their stats in this system. I once played a Gungan gunslinger (SAGA edition?) that was pretty good. He hated Jar Jar (there's a reason why JJ got banished and is hated by his own people) and didn't put up with anyone joking about the Gungan stereotype speech patterns. (My character didn't have a speech impediment.) Even photoshopped a character picture with a Gungan head on Clint Eastwood from Good, Bad, and Ugly. The rules for Gungans in that system were pretty powerful, a bonus to Dex and AC in a system where AC came at a premium. I could mow down all badguys and not fear being injured myself. Good times...

My brother had a awesome Gungan rebel character in Saga edition that specialised in throwing weapons and did some major work in fights. He also made it very clear that he didnt have any accent. I think that the way Gungans have been portrayed talking is one of the big reasons (besides Jar Jar) that have earned them so much ire. I think if they had just allways talked gunganese in the movies people would have given them more slack.
The thing about the Gungans Ive allways liked the most is their underwater cities. The visual of Otoh Gunga coming into view is allways as fantastical as the first time I saw it when I was younger. Ive had this scene for an adventure for ages that depicts a scene set in a gungan opera with the deep sea as a backdrop, but never gotten around to it.
Anyway, getting of topic here. Shame the Selldu got left out, doubt we will see such a specific creature in any other upcoming book as its unlikely any of them will focus on Dressalians. Maybe we can hope for a stat drop for it in some adventure or such.
I've said it before but on paper the Gungans sound like an awesome combination of Wookiees and Mon Calamari--amphibious tribal warriors. If they'd never spoken a word, I think they would be fan favorites.
