Where would you place the next board?

By Artaterxes, in Talisman

Hello...of course we know the next big Talisman expansion will be great, no matter where the board is placed (if there's a board!)

But it's fun to speculate. :)

Besides, it's an interesting question. The corners and center are all full now! And the full board is indeed pretty big. So what would you do? Here are a few ideas...

New Inner Region: The Dragon technically doesn't need its board (pg. 3); it's optional. So if you put a new Inner Region down, you could still use The Dragon with it.

Off to the side: If Timescape were to be redone, I guess it would go here. The playing area would just be too big, I think!

Somewhere else? Any other speculations? Where else could a board go?

Besides the other "boardlet" expansion we will likely get?

Well I like the three options for the inner region. We started using the Dragon Tower recently and it's quite fun.

So I suppose another inner region is not really needed.

Off to the side board.... no thanks. But I do see a demand for a Timescape or similar expansion so I suppose if one was made with off to the side board, I would buy it. But does that open the door to more off to the side boars? Because if it does, no thanks ;)

I see lots of demand for a ocean/sea expansion. Answer is simple. Make little ship tokens, andsome rules and a deck for them.allow off board (Or even on the board) "Perimiter"movement, simulating sailing off the coast. Add in a special terrain card deck that attachesto the perimeter of the board and regions. "Siren's Cove" "Treasure Island" etc.

Best I can come up without making regions that attach to regions

Well, when the time came to purchase a table, Talisman came to mind, and the right size for gaming was bought.

So not having any space restriction, I'm all for more region that connect to region as long as you don't have to get up and go around the table to move your too far away character miniature

I would buy a board that could go around all we have right now with the same width as the 3 lanes corner expansion.

Side board 1: Sea/ocean Pirates/sea merchant

Side board 2: Desert/pyramid Slavers/lost city civilization

Side board 3: Haunted forest/castle Vampire/terrorize folks merchant

Side board 4: Maze/moving walls Time consumption/great perk from previous dead adventurer

I do understand indeed that not everybody has the room to fit a huge table and maybe new corners with different theme might be a better option.

As for Timescape, as I said a long time ago on this forum, it should be back with a variation instead of going into the future it should bring you back in time for a fun adventure.

Cheers

I always felt like Talisman could use a Count Strahd Von Zarovich , Dracula, etc. I suppose in a way it has one with the Vampire Tower and the Bloodmoon expansion +The Werewolf mimics vampirism well, but a flat out Vampire Castle would be cool to see, though what would it offer to gameplay and the table, where would it attach to, what are the gains for making the trip into that region?

There is no rule that the 'boardlet' after The Deep Realms has to 'link' the Woodland with the Highland. The Nether Realm, another POD is unlike Deep Realm, so the next 'boardlet' could be too. Why not? I've thought of what might happen in 'that' realm myself, and figured a number of players have wanted more Undead too. A part of the Outer Region "Graveyard" space would be adjacent to the new realm. So...

A "Haunted Realm" indeed. Perhaps entering only from the Graveyard, a little maze of spaces to the mini-boss, who I prefer to see as a female Undead, perhaps The Queen of Vampires. If you lose to her, not only might you lose a life, but you're teleported to the Vampire's Tower, in the Inner Region. This would be pretty daunting for most characters, so you might want to have a new kind of Talisman (like the Stygian Talisman is found in The Deep Realm). Possible spaces to encounter? A Necropolis, for starters. Maybe a Pet Cemetery, where you remove animal trophies from the discard pile for encounters.

I still am waiting for the Timescape! Or a set of rules that will allow playing Relic in Talisman. Optionally vice versa.

There are many options, of course one of them is a separate board, but a long time ago there was an expansion called " Far Outer Region ". Pretty much its title suggests what kind of board it was. Just look at the main board on this image and You will know: http://www.randomdice.com/games/talisman/mega/MegaTalisman2.jpg

I know that this Region could be super huge, but why not. People already were forced to buy bigger tables to play the Talisman.

Not so interested in the Timescape or connecting Relic, but....

After seeing that picture it would be cool to have another large game with expansions and similar mechanics that would "Share the same world" and connect for an epic night of game play.

While the Magiczny Miecz doesn't share the same world, I think it could be kind of interesting to have two huge borads, both with its own corner expansions. Players would start the game in both "worlds", and be able to freely move between them. Perhaps they would need to visit the centre space of that two worlds to be able to win the game.

I like idea of a small side board with 6-8 squares where movement is restricted or unpredictable. I was thinking of a fly palace or castle that is represented by a game piece on the board and moves like the reaper (but restricted to the outer region). If you land in the space with palace you can enter on your next turn. When you leave the palace perhaps unwillingly you will end up in the space where the palace is currently positioned.

I for one, think they should expand the POD's and print sticky paper or something to stick to the back of the corner boards we already have. This would probably be a more cost effective manner to release new expansions. The Ocean/Pirate would be great as well as some other ideas.

I for one, would buy whole replacement corner board expansions but besides Timescape, I would not want more boards off to the side. I don't know what the market would be for these though....

Also, they could release Character packs with 4 or so extra characters to use. I would love to have this......

So many people dislike the Dragon expansion they may have a market for a replacement middle region with a better mechanic.

I don't have the crafts-person 'gene', my best efforts always look sloppy; so I'm not one for peel and stick solutions, sadly. But I agree it is more cost friendly.

I think the only way to really go is 'booster' sets that have new characters and possibly new cards for various decks, new alt endings.

I don't know if there truly is a consensus of hatred or dislike towards the Dragon set, but that does represent an option; another inner-region-inlay.

*** EDIT!! would it be more likely that FFG will tool up for 5th edition?

I'm in the minority, but The Dragon when played with the full set of rules is my favorite expansion...

However because The Dragon full rules can be played without the Inner Region overlay, it would be compatible with another Inner Region board from a new expansion.

Yeah the full set of my rules ;-)

A Heaven in an upper floor supported by some sticks :)

And at the top of it we would be fighting God himself? Sounds like the Shin megami Tensei series ;) .

"God is not the source of all evil in the series, and that something in the Universe is causing God to be Evil"

What it would be? The Wizard?

(sorry for the bad english)

- Some Angels, demigods, power-up and ancestral curses that speed-up the game in the other regions too (even for the other characters in other regions and expansions).

- Circular region with a special final-space --> you can enter in this space only with some conditions (the Wizard of the main plot is a great idea ;) )

- I don't like the city because it's unbalanced... I prefer something between the city and the dungeon, and at the end you teleport in the inner region or in the crown of command: BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE DESERVING.

- Optional (of course) references and connections with other expansions

Let's build.. Up.

Yea,

Build up like what was done in the 3rd addition.

Also, I agree, card packs, Character packs, even themed card packs that replace existing cards.
