Tira

By babelfish666, in UFS Rules Q & A

With Tira's continuous ability that swaps her personality. does her mood change everytime she loses vitality while she is below 10, or only if vitality loss would reduce her to 10 or less?

So if she is on 7 vitality, and has gloomy side attached and uses it to lose 2 vitality, does she swap into jolly side?

Or is it only if she drops to 10 or less, and the goes back above that?

she changes whenever she takes damage and is less than 10 life.

Basicaly at low life she becomes schitzophrenic (sp?)

I thought that her ability only changed with life loss not with combat damage

i just checked again the rules combat damage is loss of life my fault for not reading rules correctly sorry. her ability will change every time she is below ten when she takes life loss

Are you guys sure? I thought she changes once and that was it. Or does she really change everytime under 10 hp? So I take 1 damage per turn i change every turn from each side? That makes her crazy inconsistence.

Anyone have a definate answer?

It has nothing to do with damage. Technically, it's not actually TIRA that causes it, but the static text on Gloomy/Jolly side...

"After taking vitality loss that lowers your vitality to 10 or less..."

Vitality loss is defined as ANY loss in vitality, be it due to damage dealt (this is only generated by attacks), a card effect (Basara, as an example), or paying a cost (such as Gloomy Side, while attached).

So yes, if you're at, say, 11 vitality, then lose 1 vitality due to an attack dealing damage to you, you would swap Gloomy to Jolly (or vice versa). If at that point you do something to lose vitality, such as playing the "while attached" ability on Gloomy Side, which causes you to lose 2 vitality, you will swap again. If you lose vitality again, you swap again, etc, until you go to 0 and lose, get back above ten (at which point the cycle only begins again when you get back to 10 or less), or your opponent loses the game.

So basically...

The stamp is gonna go @ Smazzy. Sort of. Taking damage =/= vitality loss, but the right idea is here =P

And this has been asked and stamped somewhere else, I think. Hence my certainty xD

didnt they reword it so that "taking damage" amounts to a vitality loss equal to the amount of dmg dealt?

I could be completely wrong, never played tira or really anything like valkyrie turn (before my time)

One of the Arbiters stamped an answer identical to the one MG and Smazz put forward when I asked the question a while back.

Yes, she totally wigs out once she gets below 10 vit.

When someone takes damage, the damage is translated into vitality loss. Which is why the opponent's vitality goes down when they take damage. So damage could be looked at as a particular kind of vitality loss.

It doesn't go the other way though. If a card effect says, "Your opponent loses 3 vitality," that is NOT the same as taking 3 damage.
