I have a 4 and 5 year old. They don't touch my minis apart from the D&D minis i collected as minis for D&D games in the mid 2000s. They do however get their own ships to scale with 3 2/3 inch...
OT: Toddlers LOVE X-Wing
Looked at some Jedi Force stuff. Those are really nice. Then my wife saw what they were going for....

I picked up the ships off of eBay even before I got into X-Wing. Then while I was at the Lego store I picked up the other parts to make the pegs and bases. The link above is for anyone wanting info to get your own.
lego!
You went and opened every day of the advent calendar already?
I don't have kids yet so I'm drafting a friend's daughter into the navy, she needs a better role model than that the e l dog anyway.
My son is 7, he started having an interest in playing at age 6. I got him his own falcon. He can still be somewhat effective as part of my fleet and he always can shoot at something. It is his favorite, and if he gets to fly that, he is happy. So far the falcon has held up well, but he is fairly careful for his age.
As he gets older, if he still enjoys playing, We can add to his fleet. If he loses interest and forgets about it, I'll make space in my hanger for it ![]()
Have you looked at the Star Wars Command line that Hasbro just came out with? The ships might be a little small for a toddler, but are very indestructible. The Falcon is actually almost the perfect scale for X-Wing and if you are a nutter like me, you can even convert the Star Destroyer into a Vigil Corvette for Epic play!
+1 for this. After reading this thread yesterday i went to check out the star wars command line. I found it on sale online at walmart. Bought the Falcon and had it ready for in store pickup. When i gave it to my 2 1/2 year old son last night, he about lost it. His excitement was ridiculous. I've never seen him so happy to get anything. He loves Star Wars because Daddy loves Star Wars. He thanked me over and over again and hugged me all night. Best $23 I've ever spent! He woke up this morning and it was the first thing on his mind.
The falcon itself is pretty solid and even has some paint detail. All of the other pieces are pretty much one color though so don't expect the level of detail you get with X-wing. And i was looking at some of the other packs but none of the x-wings or ties have any detail so i didn't get them yet. I think it says ages 3+ on the box, but i don't think any of the pieces are small enough to choke on. But you may still need to help with some of the pull back/wind up on the falcon. My son was starting to get the hang of that though. Oh and the ATAT/snowspeeder stand that allows it to pull back and roll forward isn't very good. Falls over easy. But a 2-3 year old probably won't notice or care much.
