A/SF B-Wing (prototype)

By Cev Lost, in X-Wing

Going through the posts Finding Mods Trying to do mods has proven me a novice. Yet I love the challenge....

So I present for commentary

While yes I know my Cockpit is not set right, I'm short on a tid bit of supplies (magnets my hobby shop is out)

However let me take you along my learning experience!

Starting out I had Tried to slice the wings away from the body, this you can do but then I got to thinking the upper hull's gotta come away clean.

A bit of wiggling and a snap later...

As you can see there is a divider in there It proved useful for when I put the unit back together.

My next issue was Hinges. A visit to my hoby shop that did RC plains copters and cars provided me these puppies

The first thing after Exploding my fighter was to Trim the wings and then make an inset for the hinge Since I wouldn't be using the "Flash" I used it And it seemed to work nicely.

Then to Trim the hinge down to actual size..

and Attach it to the wing via Super glue

Rinse and repeat for the other side and you have your Working S-Foils!

Now to put it back together I pinned both wings and fuselage (pardon the messy pics)

Special note, I sanded down the insert wedge block that held the B-wing together While you really can't see it from an up angle a side view will let you see the gap in my B-wing, (more apt mod peeps will be sure to fix this But it is a proto type!)

After pins are in place and the Fuselage holes were drilled, Wings affixed. Clean up

Next up Magnet order For the stand and Cockpit!

Enjoy!

Cool. Rotating cockpit and that thing is perfect.

Very nice, cant wait to see the final process.. I did the stand swivel and the cockpit mods on a few of mine, it was fun, this looks more ambitious than I'm willing to go.. lol

Edited by oneway

Very nice man, This is just another example of people far more gifted than me doing what they do best, I'd be too afraid to try to hack my minis, then pissed that I had to go out and buy a replacement.

Great job with the blended wing, I really love it, thanks for the pictures, greettings.
