I can see from here a huge dragon eating mostly horses, mule and a porter as a delicasee across the Talisman board demonio.gif

Now we can say that the reaper is a pushover and watch every character who has more that 4 objects running around gran_risa.gif

Cheers

haha

The Dragons are hungry demonio.gif

Then we have finally something to get rid of all those followers.

Horses and mules etc will be a delicous snack for the dragons.. gran_risa.gif

The Dragon King can be used for the Tower then, and also as a alternative ending card.

My memory is fuzzy on this point, but wasn't there an old Alternate Ending card that was the Dragon King? I seem to remeber some oriental dragon look to the artwork and a pile of treasure behind the Dragon King, but I can't remember what he did.....

Ok here is what I was able to drudge up (at least until I get home tonight and check my copy):

Dragon King- Strength:12, Craft: 12 - radom reaction to person encountering him.

Yes, there is a 2th edition dragon King ending card.

But the dragon tower is cooler.

Both can be published..

I just had an idea for a Dragon Follower with great strength (+4 to your Strength, or something), but requires that you feed him another Follower to use him, sort of like the Mercenary, but with a somewhat steeper cost... gran_risa.gif

I agree that if the Dragon King will come with his servants into the Talisman world, then the Dragon King, must be stronger than the Lord of Darkness.

Storywise, not neccessary. The Lord of Darkness is a prisoner, thus he cannot rule the land even if he wanted to. A dragon of equal strength and craft is still more powerful due to being free.

Sorry for being the critic here, but I question the need for a 4th Edition dragon expansion. Let me explain why...

The Dragon Expansion, 2nd Edition
There are 21 dragons in 2nd Edition, excluding the Dungeon Bronze Dragon, the wyverns and the Dragon King ending.

18 of these were added by the Dragon Expansion, each single one more powerful than the regular "Dragon", including additional bad effects for loosing/fighting them.

There are 317 adventure cards, meaning 6% chance to get a dragon out of the deck, almost as high as getting at least one bag of gold!

1x Amber Dragon STR7
1x Blue Dragon STR8
1x Chinese Dragon STR8
1x Cloud Dragon STR8
3x Dragon STR7
3x Dragon Prince STR9
2x Dragon's Lair STR7
1x Emerald Dragon STR7
1x Frost Dragon STR7
2x Gold Dragon STR8
1x Mountain Dragon STR8
1x Red Dragon STR8
1x Sea Dragon STR8
1x Shadow Dragon STR8
1x Storm Dragon STR?

1x Bronze Dragon (dungeon) STR8

This, I remember, was one of the key issues with the Dragon expansion. It simply threw game balance out of the door.

3rd Edition Dragons
There are only 5 dragons in the entire 3rd edition (unless you count the somewhat more powerful wyvern). Only two in the adventure deck. 3rd Edition have only one single "Red Dragon" with a strength of 7. There are no other adventure cards stronger than strength 6 on the main board.

With only 133 adventure cards this still meant a 1,5% chance to get a dragon.

1x Chinese-Dragon STR6
1x Red Dragon STR7

1x Bronze Dragon (dungeon) STR8
1x Ice Dragon (mountain) STR7
1x Shadow Dragon (forest) CRA7

4th Edition Dragons
4th Edition so far have 11 dragons (excluding Wyvern/Amphiptere) and only 6 in the Adventure deck.

With already 360 adventure cards you have only 1,6% chance of picking a dragon out of the Adventure Deck.

3x Dragon STR7
1x Eastern Dragon 6/6
1x Frost Drake STR7
1x Miser Dragon STR8

1x Bronze Dragon (dungeon) STR8
1x Miser Dragon (dungeon) STR8
1x Cloud Dragon (highland) STR8
1x Frost Drake (highland) STR7
1x Mountain Dragon (highland) STR8

3rd Edition Wizard's Tower
However, the 3rd Edition also had the Tower. Now there are a couple of things to note about that one. First, it was neccessary due to the lack of inner region. Second, the 3rd Edition board was much smaller, making the tower more manageable.

4th Edition features plenty of artwork concerning the final route to the Crown of Command. It's placed on top of a circular staircase in stone, surrounded by the inhospitable inner region, including the classic areas from 2nd Edition. Here the tower isn't neccessary to fill the end game.

Not only so, but the 4th Edition now have plenty of endings.

Final Question
So to sum all that up... The question is then; do the 4th Edition benefit from having a "Dragon Expansion" at all? I found the 2nd edition expansion to both put too much focus on one monstertype, and destroy the game balance. The 3rd Edition was neccessary due to the board design.

What could a 4th Edition Wizard tower or Dragon Expansion actually add to the game that isn't already in there, doesn't trash the game balance nor change the theme of the game? I do not doubt we are going to see a Dragon King ending eventually, but beyond that I am fine with just having some of the 3rd Edition Tower cards/2nd Edition Dragon Cards implemented in 4th Edition.

Yes it is necessary to have more dragons in the game. There are currently not enough in the main Adventure deck!

Short answer I'm afraid, got the **** flu (no not a cold) from gf who was in bed solid for 4 days herself!!!

That's some advanced argumentation right there. :)

Personally I find around 1,5% to draw a dragon from the deck is fine. The only reason for having more dragons that I can see, would be to give the lance some more use, but tweaking the entire game to support one object seems like overkill.

I never found Talisman to be about dragons. It's a magic kingdom with plenty of references to european myth and folklore. Having excess of one monstertype change the theme of the game.

Also, I would have preferred if the power of monsters in the adventure deck had kept low. The expansions have begun to fill up the adventuredecks with more powerful monsters that cannot be evaded. Ignoring Cerberus there's now 13 monsters in the adventuredeck with a power 7+ which is instakill for those low level characters who should stick to the main board. That's a 3.6% chance, a value that I would rather see dilluted by future expansions than increased.

Furthermore, I would prefer that monsters of 7+ always had a twist. The Cerberus is an interesting idea. Lord of the Pit and the Miser Dragon comes with additional rewards while Heavenly Host/Infernal Legion only attack the right alignment.

There are currently four STR7 and four CRA7 monsters in the pile.

Sorry about the flu.

You forgot my Amphiptere from the Highlands & the Wyvern too! Ah no you didn't oopsy!!!!

Bit off-topic, but I built an .XLS spreadsheet for all cards all editions, so if I missed any I blame the spreadsheet. :)

I know Wyvern and Amphiptere are considered dragons. 3rd Edition do not distinguish between monstertypes so I am sorry if i missed any.

Off course!

Anyway, we have so much cards, that the Dragon expansion(with around 80 new cards) can easily be added to the game.

And then we see a dragon tower in the distance... babeo.gif

I was thinking today about the Dragon Rider from the Dragon expansion, and which abilities i would like to add to him

Dragon Rider

strength 3 , Craft 2, Life 4, Fate 2

-You may roll 2 dice for your movement and choose one of the results to use for your move.

-You may add 2 to your strength in battle, and you may add 3 to your strength if you fight against a dragon

- During your turn, your dragon must eat each follower that is staying with you. Discard the followers and gain 1 life for each.

- You can cross the River as if you are using a Raft. You may not use Rafts

Have you ever looked inside the Dragonland Expansion or the Alternative Endings Expansion? There you can find a lot of the Dragon Expansion cards, a Dragon Follower, and more ... , the Dragon King Ending and also the King's Battle Ending (Strength Ending compare the Demon Lord). I've made these expansions last year. You will find these unofficial expansions and more on talismanisland.

I hope we will see a new official expansion soon.

I have take a look at it, and it's impressive.

I see a lot of retro cards, that has not been made yet, and also from the dragon expansion.

The manual looks impressive too gui%C3%B1o.gif

But i have decide to play only with official expansions, or promo's, so i will skip this one. happy.gif

I hope too that we see a expansion soon gran_risa.gif

Looking at the Dragon Priest from 2th edition, he looks like a weak character in the game.

I hope that FFG will add more interesting ability's to those characters in the future, same goes for Dragon Slayer and Dragon Rider..

They are just boring in 2th edition happy.gif
