Tanky Decimator + Escorts

So, was brainstorming lists while on break.

Decimatior: 44 pts

3 academy ties: 36 pts

20 points of upgrades

Or

Decimator: 44 pts

3 basic tie bombers: 48 pts

8 points of upgrades

2 basic tie advances: 42 pts

14 pts of upgrades

Thinking about using 2 tie advances as escorts cause the tankyness of the PS 6 decimator pilot and the natural tankyness of the tie advances might compliment each other, and the tie advanced is just never used.

The only thing I have against the x1 is the two attack, but I think it could work potentially. Maybe use Fleet Officer with two Tempests? Having two actions on the Advances might be just the boost they need.

I like the idea of using the X1s as escort, and they are a bit sturdier than Fighters and less crit-vulnerable than Bombers. Maybe try this?

youd have that for one turn and then be clearing the stress for two turns to do it again, though.

I love the idea of the Decimator and Bombers. Too bad there isn't enough points left for many upgrades.

Fought heavy laser cannon dash with marksmanship, lone wolf arvel, and two bandit squadron pilots.

The decimator, between critical nullification and shields absorbed 22 points of damage.

The decimator is surprisingly mobile. Was zipping around asteroids, outmaneuvered arvel and blasted him out of the sky. The defender took out the bandits, and almost pushed dash off the board.

Yeah, I like the idea of the defender but I wanted 2-3 ships escorting the deci.

Kinkirk is the guy who gets the evade dice once shields are down and you get a damage card right?

I really wish non unique advances could take ept's. Like wingman.

I sorta want to do x1's and kinkirk, they all have hyper drives, and It makes a good patrol formation.

I've been toying with the idea of Black Squadron TIEs with Wingman to run with my Imperial heavies. The idea being that they keep tight formation and take pot shots where available, but don't go hunting on their own.
