The problem is that its quite difficult to find a situation where Predator is not better or easier to use, if you have 1 more point to spend.

So it has to be a ship where you are willing to meet the condition of solo flying it for a defensive buff. So best a ship that you would fly solo anyway or that has 3 defense dice.

A-wings, E-Wings, Suhlak, Dash Rendar and Luke really seem the viable options here, just talking rebels...

1/3 of your list, right there, but should be a real pain in the arse to kill. He's especially mean to Falcon builds, as he can snuggle up to range 1 for some nice hard-hitting shots with a built-in reroll, while the enemy doesn't get to spend their tokens on focus or evade to block it (nor use their focus on their return shot, while he'll have a reroll from Lone Wolf, and direct blank -> evade conversion from being out of arc with autothrusters).

Or fly him in formation with Biggs or a bigger threat, so you have a reliable late game ship, but in the meantime he is protected. When his wingman is cleared, break formation and do your Lone Wolf thing.
