So about the Broadsaber

By Nyxen, in X-Wing

No, no, no.

It's not a broadsaber. It's a lighthammer.

You hold it by the long glowing burny part and hit people with the short glowing burny parts.

And thank god for those police.

As for spoiler material, well it's not 100% confirmed. But it makes sense.

If it's stuff that wasn't officially released I'm sure most people would appreciate it if it wasn't posted on the forum. Pretty much everyone's cool with trailers but nobody wants to see, for example, a leaked script.

Wrong.... I read all, watch all.. spoilers are there to inform.. nothing ruins a movie for me, either I want to see it or I dont.. and 'spoilers' dont effect my enjoyment of it...

Cortosis isn't the only lightsaber-resistant material out there, though. I made a joke about phrik somewhere, and I know there are a couple others that I don't feel like googling.
However, maybe these are just vent ports, as opposed to actual blades. They could be harmless.

Or we'll have some kind of force savant who can deflect light-sabers like Darth kind of did to blaster shots in Empire Strikes Back ("we would be honored..if you would join us...")

You know, just in case he goofs :P

In regards to light saber resistant material, Luke managed to whack vader on the shoulder pretty good in empire without cutting vader's arm off (again).

Year that never sat well with me, a blaster bolt is one thing it dissipates quickly but stopping an energy blade as hot the surface e of some suns...

yeah it didnt sit well with me either.

also, "broadsword" or "claymore" ideas dont work with lightsabers... those weapons relied on the impact of a very heavy object also to literally bludgeon through armor they could not cut. or... dice in half some peasant.

a lightsaber has no weight at all. grip and fighting style can make some difference, form V, but not enough to really make it cost effective. I have it off the mathwing that that cross hilt saber needs to function at 200% of its statline to be competitive.

She's clearly using the force to shield against the saber...I'm not sure what the difference is between that and raising an entire xwing out of a mucky swamp.

Looks like an extremely old saber to me that needs to vent, that could also explain why the blade isn't as 'smooth' as the sabers we've seen so far. Basically old tech.

Sith Lightsabres are always supernatural. The crystal could also be the unstable type OR a unstable supernatural cherry chimichanga.

yeah it didnt sit well with me either.

If its super natural or infused with a force ability of some kind, it could funtion more like what your wanting it to.

He's the Nazgul of the Sith.

Or the Voldemort of the Force.

Maybe something from Game of Thrones too.

Charles Dance would make a pretty convincing sith lord, even if everyone would call him Darth Tywin

Stephen Colbert addressed concerns about the new lightsaber in last night's episode.

Yeah, it was f*ckin' stupid. I get that she's blocking the saber with the force but that is f*cking stupid and every Jedi would do that if they could but obviously they can't.

Then again SWToR is f*cking stupid.

Exhaust is never harmless. Pro-tip, never stand behind a running tank, or any gas turbine engine for that matter.

Colbert was genius. I am persuaded.

Just to respond, she seemed like a pretty powerful force user. I doubt that it is something "all Jedi" could have done equally as well.

I take issue with the calling of this "broadsaber". It is obviously a lightbroad.

It isnt the Force that is limited, it is the user that limits the force. :) This is why the Force is one of the most powerful things made up in our fiction. As long as you believe you can do something, you can do that thing. Theres lots of people that could be Jedi or Sith, Fel Wedge Hand, just about every named character, but the key thing they are lacking is faith in the force to do what is considered impossible.

Then theres the more advanced force powers which require more training and faith. Although from my understanding the thing she did in the clip above isnt normally tought to Jedi because the ability can lead to temptation to do evil things.

Another force power that is only taught to master and Jedi healers is the force power that keeps people from dieing AND fully heals them. The Sith have many force powers sim to the Jedi version only they ether dont fully heal BUT keep you alive, like Darth Vader and Sion or kill other beings to heal ones self like Darth Sidious.

This was the true reason why Ani was pissed about not being a Jedi Master. He wanted to learn this ability to save his Wife but was denied the chance to learn it.

Tree Exhaust is fine though! =)

The force is strong with the Bastilla and Revan, and Satele is descended from both. That lineage can accomplish things that few other students of the force can even imagine.

Plus, SWToR was super ossum (though not quite as good as KotORs I or II).

Well I have a sincere dislike for that era anyway. Five thousand years and zero technological advancement, in addition to the fact that nothing in SWToR looked original in the slightest, I couldn't bear it.

EDIT: Mind you, I adore KOTOR and KOTOR II even, I just hate hate hate hate HATE that the tech is the EXACT SAME.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

One thing you can do with the crossguards on a rapier are to grapple an enemies blade, by applying torque and capturing a blade between the blade and crossguards you can apply enough force to pull a sword out of someone's hands - especially if they're not ready for the grapple.

I'd imagine that the crossguard lightsaber blades could be used to grab an enemy lightsaber, Something you normally couldn't do as touching the enemy lightsaber would be a bad idea.
