SUPER FALCON: NOW THIS IS CGI'ING! (SO GOOD)

By Corellian Corvette, in X-Wing

Probably the most useful thing you've ever said.

JJFDVORAK, I'm happy to see a new film involving one of my favorite subjects. I saw it in 77 when I was 13, so I'm old.. lol.. not so much fanboy, but just fan, and happy to see something new in the genre.

The beachball droid I thought looked amusing, and wondered how hard it would be to knock off the 'R2' style head with a rock. The troopers look badazzzz and intimidating, I guess I dont see robocop as that's a different movie and not in my thought train when seeing SW trailers..

I'm gonna keep looking forward to it, and hope I'm not disappointed in the theatre next year..

Also looking forward to the Bladerunner sequel too.. Ford is supposed to be in that too..

I look to movies to entertain me, that's why it doesn't bother me to have all this info out about it and teaser trailers..

Well, Oneway, I hope that you and I and everyone else leave the theater next year saying that Star Wars Episode 7 kicked ass and get back in line to see it again because it was so awesome. I hope over the comeing months your oppimism rubs off on me and I get into the spirit of Star Wars again. I really do. As for now, I will just keep playing this awesome game that we all love that is set in that galaxy far far away.

Also Oneway(and anyone else)I didn't mean to offend anyone with the term "fan boy" I just meant that we all love a universe that is made for kids and it encourages our inner child. And while I am not as old as you(but seriously, who the hell is? :) ) I am a thirty something father of two, so my fan boy days are behind me as well. :)

Fair enough brother, on with the awesome game stuff.. haha

I took no offense at you calling out the fanboy, we all have our moments, and I'm always the old man around most of my friends.. just a few of us remember making those stone tablets before class started.. lol

I love this version.

Honestly this has to be the worst speeder ever. That round droid, is....well, extremely weird, and kinda pushes my limits on what I would like as a droid. I hope it doesn't play a significant role. Now, the broadsaber, as it's been dubbed? I like it. I'm excited to see more exotic saber-weapons. Yes, it's freaking impractical, if those are functional blades as opposed to plasma exhausts or whatever. Give the man some LRM armguards and he's fine. Those exist, you know. I'm a bit of a saber-enthusiast, so seeing new light weapons is a HUGE plus for me. Maybe see Lumiya's whip or a saberpike or something, too.

I'm freaking stoked about the new movie. Sure, there are things I don't like, like roundbot and this speeder brick. But it's Star Wars, dammit. A resurrection of my favorite series ever. A reboot of my childhood. Every movie has bad things about it, but ya know what? It's gonna be a helluva lot better than Jar-jar.

Oh man, I love that chunky clunky speeder..

I admit, I'm a fan of that speeder too. It looks really powerful.

Looks like a salvaged piece re-purposed.

I think the speeder is supposed to look like something that would belong to a poor dirt-farmer (or someone posing as one).

Old, all practicallity, no aesthetics.

It taps into waht I love best about the SW universe, its vastness.

I loved the OT because of what was *suggested* about the galaxy, not what was shown.

From mos eisley to coruscant and everything in between.

"I don't like it because it's not the same as one I've seen" is not what you'll ever hear from me.

Might as well complain that the hairstyles aren't 70's enough.

Yeah, I am sorry, but the whole teaser looks like a big pile of crap. The opening shot of cgi sand set the tone, the flash montage of troopers seemed to "gritty", and the chick riding the popsicle was weird. The falcon looked cool, while very cgi and fake. I did really like xwings flying over the water though.

Who are you and why are you here? Just sayin there are ships we love flyin around and still complaints.

Might as well complain that the hairstyles aren't 70's enough.

I don't care if you are being facetious, that is a totally valid complaint.

A lot of star wars art also fails to make clothing sufficiently 70's futuristic

But we're 30 years on now (in universe).

I think we can leave the bowl-cuts behind us.

I think what we're forgetting about that speeder is that it's garbage. It's literally scrap that she built. *SPOILER* If the rumors are true, which some of them seem to be based on the trailer, Daisy Ridley is a junker who salvaged broken down podracer engines to make a speeder. *END SPOILER* It's supposed to look awful, because it is awful. That's the whole point of Star Wars - it isn't Star Trek where everything is always brand new and shiny right away. It's lived-in, it's dirty, it's ugly. Those are things that we loved so much about the OT that the PT kind of abandoned with the shininess of the ships and the large, sprawling cityscape. Now look at the Rebel uniform in the trailer. It looks thrown together, the helmet is beaten up. The soccer droid is a practical, tangible prop that looks like someone needed a droid that could get over hills and dunes in the sand and made exactly that. The X-Wings look crappy. The Falcon has seen better days. There are scratches and dings and scuffs and blast marks. The broadsaber looks sick, I can't wait to see it in battle. I'm a huge fan of all of the movies but I'm by no means a fanboy. I know Episodes I and II left a lot to be desired, but I enjoy them because they're Star Wars movies. They're entertainment. Episodes III-VI are fantastic films and VII looks like a suitable, believable leap 30 years forward from where we left off in Return of the Jedi. A world where people fight to survive after the fall of an empire and the ensuing galactic turmoil.

Am I the only one thinking the chunky speeder would make a good freighter for x-wing?

NOPE... You ain't the only one my star-brother.

I want to make me a cool Junkers Force, that would fit in PERFECTLY with the SCUM just fine.

But... I am going to force myself to wait until I get my Mando stuff done...

DAT!

-_-

Gah too much CGI

When the X-Wings showed up, it felt a little like being a kid again. Especially when the sound of the X-Wing's engines got louder towards the end of that part. But when the Falcon zoomed past and started twisting and turning and dodgeing TIE Fighters, it might as well been 1983 again. I liked the new star wars movies and all but that part right there more than anything I've seen in the new movies felt like star wars and made me feel like I did as a kid watching star wars. It was like seeing an old friend you hadn't seen in many years.

1983??? for me it was 1977 all over again!!!!! too many folks get "Old" mentally or expect that at a certain age one should only be doing certain predictable stereotypical things. I say to heck with that I will always be that wide eyed kid from 1977. Heck i am still that way when i see F-16s taking off in full "burner" at Shaw AFB. Star wars is One of the reasons I joined the Air Force!!!

OMG ... ive seen the trailer in german tv.

I really REALLY fear Star Wars is going to be like the new STAR TREK movies .......

And I hate this camera shutter in action scenes.

I want to see the ships flying ... and not to have the feeling like sitting in a roller coaster...

Im sure they want to 'go to the limi' FX-wise.

This scares me a lot.

K-Turn sequenz with third person cam is kinda similar to the sequence with the falcon diving into the second death star. Nothing new, really, but always makes me bend my neck every time I watch it.

Hey, are you my evil twin?

My name is Joe and I am here because I like Star Wars and Xwing miniatures. Why are you here? And I want to apologise to you personally that I didn't love it like you did. I'll try better next time to keep my differing opinions to myself instead of posting them on a forum that generally is open to discussions.

Carefull. Don't say anything negative. Just smile, nod, and say you love it, and have been waiting 30 years for it. It is perfect in everyway! :-)
