Avoiding the EP 7 Trailer

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

It's going to be quite difficult to avoid the episode 7 trailer, but I'm hoping to go a full 12 1/2 month without seeing any trailers or spoilers in hopes that it'll be a completely fresh experience for me when I eventually do see it. I realize that it's near impossible to do this if I watch television.... (and I do), which may mean skipping the entirety of Star Wars Rebels from this point forward, and possibly even other shows like the Walking Dead and stuff... simply because even if I fast Forward through commercials I'm still gonna see frames.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one like this?

I would imagine.

For what it's worth, it's a TEASER trailer. There is virtually nothing substantive in either trailer, just a lot of fap-worthy eye candy.

I doubt it's possible. That being said, there's literally zero plot in it. Just some shots of sand, spaceships, stormtroopers and a guy with a crossguard lightsaber.

Yeah, I do not see how this will spoil anything for you. It looks good but doesn't give you enough to have any idea what is going on.

Good luck avoiding it, as the closer we get to December 2015, it WILL be everywhere. Episode 7 commercials everywhere, on TV, in pop-ups on line, in your breakfast cereal.

So either you become a complete recluse or you give in to the dark side and watch the trailer....lol

personally I don't understand this concept. I want to see it all, and it is beyond me why a true fan of the movies wouldn't want to see this, or anything that comes out for it.

That said, this may be the only thing we see for a few months..

I can tell you that my movie-watching enjoyment has substantially increased since I started doing what I call "sensory deprivation." No spoilers, no trailers, no set photos, no rumors, nothing. It doesn't make me less of a "true fan" because I don't spend hundreds of hours obsessing over something and wind up disappointed in the theater because I already know 90% of what's happening in the movie. Your view of what a "true fan" should be is exactly that: your view. Lots of people have lots of different opinions on what a "true fan" is.

Having said that, I will occasionally indulge in something that I've had independently verified to not be spolier-rific, and this teaser met that standard. To the OP, I would say give it a watch. You're not at risk of having anything spoiled, and it definitely will get your blood pumping.

I wasn't saying he isn't a true fan, I just meant that we are all true fans here and it confuses me that anyone wouldn't want to see this stuff.. I guess I'm different, I can know all the plot and have seen 75% of a show and still be like a star struck kid when I see the whole thing in the movie theatre, doesn't diminish my enjoyment at all.. I guess I'm an odd duck.. lol

I will say that if I hadn't known about Maul's staff-saber before hand, I probably would have enjoyed that scene a lot more when I first saw it. It definitely would have been an "oh my god wtf so awesome" moment (it was anyway, but the surprise was lost).

There's something to be said for skipping trailers--while they may not give away plot, they sometimes DO give away significant moments out of context.

Nah, if anything, I feel like OP and I are the odd ones. All I know is I have totally avoided seeing the last Harry Potter movie when it came out, because they hype machine built it up to be something I knew it could never live up to. Conversely, when Marvel announced the Thor movie, I avoided any information about it like the plague. And since doing that, I have thoroughly enjoyed every trip to the movies I've taken.

Once the marketing machine truly starts, you won't be able to escape.

Give in to the dark side..

It is your destiny.

Resistance is, as they say, futile.

Watch the teaser man. They don't even spoil who the good guy or bad guy is (well, technically they show the bad guy, but you can't make out any features, or if he is even human (defiantly humanoid, no sith hutts)).

Plus, you would like the 2-4 seconds of x-wings flying above water.

Perhaps...

But how much does Disney REALLY have to promote the REAL trailers for the actual film? Honestly? I mean, it's not like the general public is going to need to be convinced to go see STAR WARS.

I mean, just post "Episode VII" above this image. Will get people to see the movie, guarantied :P

All I could think at that moment was.. why the heck didn't they all just start shooting, he couldn't have dodged all that blaster fire and the Jedi could have blocked the return shots off of Mauls sabre.. lol..

Crabbok, you must see the new Sith. She's gnarly, man.

Oh my god just look at those beautiful things.

I'm right behind you man.

Regardless of length, even a few glimpses can ruin a moment while watching the full thing for the first time.

Haven't given in just yet.

Although I know it's inevitable to catch a few pictures, which is okay, but some spoiler tags would be appreciated.

Good luck :)

I get that you want to wait Crabbie, but I don't mind to much, it is just a little bit of fun.

Guy says he wants no spoilers, so someone posts a screen cap from the trailer...

Exactly. Kind of a **** move, but whatever... I should have known better.

Anyhow, I lasted less than a full day then finally caved in and viewed the Ep 7 teaser...... it was amazing and I cried.

I didn't like that someone posted an image, that was dickish.

BUT WASN'T THE TRAILER COOL OH MAN

Sorry, shouldn't of spoiled that x-wings would be in the movie.

**** move, my bad. Next time I won't assume that posting a picture of x-wings would be spoilers.
