Now it makes sense...

By mouthymerc, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

He was just napping.

I like that John Boyega is a stormtrooper. Should make for an interesting dynamic if he was not impersonating one.

A lightsaber with a cross hilt? Spare me. They didn't need one for 20000 years, why now?

The Falcon shot was cool though, good vapour trailers and camera flow.

Hey, a lightbroadsword is preferable to lightchucks...

I hate, all of you! You are worst than the Dark Side! With all your temptations! XD

PS: I promised a friend to wait for him to watch the trailer and until tomorrow I will not see it XDD

Nice. The X-wings look F-ing awesome.

One of the things I like about this teaser is the power of negative space. The shots aren't cluttered with characters or monsters or poorly animated junk. Each shot has an obvious focus that's easy to follow even without total context of what's happening.

As for the lightsaber... ech... Adding more blades to a lightsaber doesn't make me care about Star Wars. Making the guy who wields the lightsaber interesting makes me care about Star Wars.

We never saw a double bladed lightsaber until Maul in The Phantom Menace. I'm all about the rule of cool and I enjoy aspects that define or differentiate characters. I thought the wielder and the lightsaber looked cool and menacing.

Yeah, I like that the ranks of the Stormtrooper Corps are getting more and more diverse.

You had confirmation of female troopers in A New Dawn (prequel novel for Star Wars: Rebels), and no troopers that aren't Caucasian, if like you said it turns out he wasn't just impersonating a trooper.

I'm kinda hoping that we get at least some elements of the Empire in this particular era not being a completely monolithic evil, even if only as a nod to the works of Timothy Zahn who gave us high-ranking Imperials (most notably Palleon) who were actually decent human beings vs. being cackling lunatics.

Compared to some of the other stuff that's cropped up, such as the lightwhip or the cross-hilt lightsaber or even sillier fan creations, I don't think the cross-hilt design is that bad.

If anything, it'd make a certain degree of sense to have such a thing to help cut down on the chances of somebody else with a ligthsaber simply sliding their blade down and searing off a few fingers. Given it's a red blade, the user is probably a Sith or follows their methodology at the least, and the Sith have never been shy about exploiting any advantage they can get, up to and including tweaking a lightsaber design for an extra edge in a fight. The Jedi are the traditionalists, while the Sith are willing to shake up the ant farm just for the sake of watching the ants scurry about.

True. Until TPM came out, the double-bladed lightsaber was a comics-only creation from the Tales of the Jedi comics back in the 90's. If I remember right, the main reason it showed up in TPM was Lucas saw some artwork of the double-bladed 'saber, thought "that looks pretty cool," and had the bad guy use it to help offset the 2-vs-1 odds that Maul was up against for most of the fight.

Similar reason is why Aayla Secura got a film appearance; Lucas saw some cover art that featured her, he thought the design of the character looked cool, and so added the character to his films.

I like it all, impersonating stormtroopers, cute little R2 unit meets soccer ball, X-Wings flying low over a lake, medieval looking evil lightsabers, and Falcon loopty loo barrel rolling chicken runs head on at TIE fighters, cause anyone can shoot TIEs down, but head on at the bad guys is a signature Han frikkin Solo move!

It's been in EU for what....10 years now?

Same reason as a light-whip. "Looks cool, why not?"

Whether John Boyega is impersonating a stormtrooper or he actually plays one that may perhaps go rogue or defect doesn't matter; he's already my favorite new Star Wars movie character since the end of Return of the Jedi.

Yeah, I'm getting used to the idea :) But the EU is not exactly a measure of what is cool...more like the opposite, mostly.

I don't use my energy for nerd rage, I just think it's pure awesome, kind of like coffee. It makes me giddy!

The lightsaber did, for some reason, look cooler in the teaser than the leaked concept art thingy. I like it. Extra points of attack and defence, what's not to like? It's like coffe, pure awesome!

Screw the lightsaber and the Falcon!

Did you guys see that Stormtrooper platoon in D-Day moment getting ready to drop a beat down on somebody?

My kids are laughing hysterically at the 'soccer ball astromech' for lack of a better name.

It's probably wise they didn't show Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher in this teaser because people would have confused it with Jurassic World. Y'know, what with them being dinosaurs and all. :P

Everyone is talking about the lightsaber, understandably, but if the rumours are true about that character looking for Vader's remains, could he be on a death star fallout endor, lighting up his blade to fight feral survivor ewoks?

Eh, if I wanted to watch a guy butchering Ewoks with a lightsaber I'd go back and watch Star Wars fan-films from 2003.

Anybody notice the Falcon now has a rectangular satellite dish? Obviously had to get a replacement after Lando knocked off the round one.

The sabre also seemed to have an unstable blade. That stood out for me. Any thoughts as to why that would be?

I've heard the theory that this could be an ancient Sith reawakened and his saber could be an older less stable version.
