If you've never experienced the Star Wars Holiday Special, you need to.

I'd suggest watching it with Rifftrax and a roomful of friends; preferably ones you don't intend to keep.

But there are some of us out there (here?) who say it first (and only) run on TV on November 17, 1978.

And that's the thing; everyone who talks about Life Day, treats it like Christmas. There are Life Day achievements in video games that you only get on Christmas, but the thing came out in November before Thanksgiving. I, at age 8, thought it was a Thanksgiving thing.

So, what's the deal? Should it be the 17th of November?

Should it be Thanksgiving?

Should it be Christmas?

While playing X-wing a few months back, I made a Life Day reference and ended up having the explain The Holiday Special to some little 'uns. We talked about doing a Holiday Special X-wing play day where we watch the DVD (Yes, I'm a pirate.) and make fun of it, and play X-wing.

What do you all think?

Now for me it has that general family holiday vibe as both thanksgiving and xmass have. You(r 8 year old self) wanna make it Thanksgiving? fine with me.

Or maybe it's its own seperate holiday.

It's not like there's a 100% legit way of watching it since Geore lucas tried to have all copies destroyed. Now me i just watch it for the animated Boba Fett bit and give thanks that Lucas didn't make a special edition of this abomination.

My birthday is may the fourth.... i was well happy when i first heard jokes as a kid about star wars and that date and when it became 'official' star wars day i loved it!

I actually found it on YouTube, but without some of the songs in it. I almost want to inflict as much pain on my family as possible and want to find it fully intact.

They actually played the Special at a theater in town. I went. It was awful/awesome.
