Gammorian Guard, Rancor, Boba Fett and other speculations

By Torresse, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So I am pretty excited to see Bobba Fett and other scum in the card art

The picture that has me most excited is the rancor (Ill run two of them in skirmish please)

However looking at the game, it seems obvious to me that the first major expansion will be a scum one.

I think a cool addition would be to have bosk ig88 and boba fight replace rebel heros and fight imperial soldiers

Happy Thanksgiving folks

They are from artwork that was done for the lcg so I wouldn't read I to the pictures too much. Yeah odds are from what we have seen from the lcg or xwing is that we will see boba, leia, eu guys etc.

I am really wondering about how the would do Jabba, and if they would give him an attack of any kind

Jabba would probably have an "intimidate" action, and an action that allows him to give another unit an action, with "focus"

perhaps he will mark a unit at the beginning of the turn. all friendly units targeting that unit will gain stun. you could also give him the awkward text, though I dont know if he would ever hold a blaster

I imagine he'd have some type of weak attack but all his special abilities that grant extra actions for his lackeys.

After digging through my hundreds of Wizards of the Coast Star Wars miniatures; I'd really like to see some Ewoks. I think it would just be fun to show up to a skirmish game with Chewie and a slew of Ewoks..

I could see Ewoks as potentially their own faction. It was too much fun to play as the Ewoks in Battle Front (2?)

An Ewok army faction, and paint them up like in the cartoon? Sold! Make this happen FFG.

It's one thing to choke a soldier in battle...

...but the image of Darth Vader force choking an ewok is highly disturbing (amusing?) :P

HERE TAKE MY MONEY!

Not a whole faction, but maybe a figure type. I'm thinking something like 4 cost for a group of 4, 2 health each, 1 white defense die, 1 blue attack die. Take the stormtroopers' swarm tactics to the obvious extreme.

I believe that Ewoks generate an anti-imperial-atrocity field that would prevent this from happening.

And if you doubt the canonicity of my statement, explain how their "forest-moon" was not devastated after a moon-sized space station and a slightly smaller super star destroyer exploded overhead, after the shield covering said space station was destroyed.

:P

If we're going in that direction, then how can we hear blaster fire in space (or any sound, for that matter)? And how can spaceships make the turns and maneuvers that they do in space, when they don't have a bunch of different jets pointing in all directions? And why does a lightsaber blade only extend a certain distance, rather than going on forever?

And so on.... :P

Vader can only force choke one, the other 11 or 15 could get to him.

More storm troopers in different poses would be good. Likewise for the rebel troopers. Assorted bounty hunters and scum and villainy henchmen. Some droids maybe ? But definitely NO EWOKS !!!

All Ewoks must die ! Too cute and annoying.

lol....I'd prefer to see Jawas more than Ewoks. When I'm playing Battlefront 2 with my kids and we're on the Mos Eisley map, I always shoot every Jawa I see. Then my 5-yr-old daughter says, "Daddy, don't shoot your friends." And so I go and shoot another one. hehehe

As for major expansions, I REALLY want to see Hoth. Snowtroopers, Hoth Rebel Troopers, Tauntauns, Wampas, etc. You just know that expansion will be amazing. It has to be.

Oh, and Boba Fett. There HAS to be a Boba Fett at some point. And he HAS to be good. I'm thinking 14-16pts good (IG88 is 12).

I'd also like to see a jedi version of Luke...because, let's face it: farmboy-Luke-who-has-never-been-off-of-Tatooine is quite a bit different than Luke-the-jedi-knight, who doesn't pee himself when he faces off against both Vader and Palpatine. Now, of course, we know that they were going easy on him because they were trying to turn him. But still, by that point Luke had come a long way since we first met him on Tatooine.

And one more: the Emperor will have to be awesome. Maybe 20pts? Maybe 18. But I'm really interested in what they end up doing with him.

Oh, we will get Ewoks at some point. Make no mistake about that.

They are after all the bane of AT-ST's. :P

Descent has both big and small boxed expansions, small boxes have descents version of side quests and big boxes have new campaigns.

The IA core box has several planet types included, I think small boxes will add to those existing types and box boxes will add 1-2 New types (one for each side?).

Jabbas palace and endor would be small boxes as they can make use of existing tiles, maybe 5 model types included plus tokens for additional models that will be sold separately.

Hoth would require a whole new planet type and would come with a big box and new campaign, lots of figures.

As far as ewoks go I expect that expansion to have 2 New hero's, created by ffg with at least one of them being an ewok as well as an ewok troop type with 3 per card. Tokens would be included for wicket and either Leia or c3po.. models bought desperately. Imperials will get speeder bikes and imperial scouts, possibly another variant of a walker. 1-2 named imperialism as tokens.

Why would there be a speeder bike? The maps are much too small.

If they can squeeze an at-st into the game they can fit a speeder bike in.

Once expansions get released maps can get a bit bigger, I wouldn't expect a speeder to go full speed but just be a very fast unit.

Maybe, but I disagree. Speeder and ATST are different beasts and mechanics involved. But whow knows, maybe there will be

At the start of the pilot film for the new rebels series one of the scenes is a rebel squad attempting to steal crates from an imperial squad with speeder bikes and foot troops. It's a good example of how a speeder bike would work in IA.

The issue with speeder bikes would be their speed and handling. If you include some kind of handling rules, they'll crash into the first obstacle on the map. If you don't include handling rules, they can cross the map in a single action.
