"Dark Curse"

"Night Beast"

Academy Pilot

The idea here is that I have a small blocker, and 3 ships that are rather durable for their type. I just need ships to stay on the board. Recon Specialist let's me use a Focus for defense, which is surprisingly helpful when you get an agility die. The only thing I might change is to trade out Rebel Captive or Recon Specialist for Moff Jerjerrod. I need to try it out some more to know which one I like better.

I have been using the following build all weekend, and it's has done very well:

Commander Kenkirk (44)

-Opportunist (4)

-Yassne (4)

-Moff (2)

-Engine Upgrades (4)

-Darth Vader (3)/Weapons Engineer (3)

Total: 61 points

Did solid damage, enough to make large ships think twice about ignoring it. Was maneuverable enough to pin down Dash and corner some Phantoms. Took plenty of damage, and kept coming. TIE swarms (no sweat), Han (Have a taste of your own medicine...), and even multi-Bwing madness (Ram and Purge) were well handled save mistakes and poor rolls on my part. Only problem I had was the crit that lowers Agility by one, pretty much hoses this ship. 8( All of the rest can be worked through.

I haven't quite worked out the best supporting forces yet. Tried it with an Echo (VI, ACD, Sensor Jammer) and did well. Also have done three AP's, and Vassery. So far I like the Echo/Vassery support with this build.

If you wish more information, just ask.

I'll miss the boosting, but those Anti-Pursuit Lasers on Oicunn sounds fun. It's interesting how the initial obvious choice of the title to still get actions ends up not being worth it once you factor in stress. One problem is that even when boosting, if your opponent doesn't give chase, sometimes it's hard to get back into the battle just because of how much kiting you're trying to do with this ship.In the Admiral and Whisper list I'm somewhat resigned to losing the Decimator every time, but just thinning things out enough that Whisper can finish them off.

Patrol Leader + Gunner + Tactician + Tactician + Tactical Jammer

Howlrunner + Predator

Black Squadron Pilot

Black Squadron Pilot

Devastator flies around throwing out 4 stress a turn, blocking for his bros, and just generally f-ing things up for the other guys to come in and mop up.

I keep seeing these double tactician builds. It is a lot of assumption that you will get enemies in your front arc, let alone at range two.

Triple Tacticians! UNLIMITED POWAH!

Commander Kenkirk (44)
Determination (1)
Moff Jerjerrod (2)
Ysanne Isard (4)
Mara Jade (3)
Proton Bombs (5)
Shield Upgrade (4)

Sigma Squadron Pilot (25)

Gunner (5)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Kenkirk is built to survive while Whisper is your heavy hitter.

With that Kenkirk build, I would get rid of the moff for a captive. If your phantom blows up or the rebel scum take pot shots at you, the extra stress will, hopefully, keep the target locks or other actions away.

Also with Ysanne and Mara you're not likely to sacrifice either of them to remove a crit so its a one use card and with 99 points the captive will, in my opinion, give you more.

Don't you mean, "Drop the Shield Upgrade for Rebel Captive"? I.think you will NEED Moff if the Decimator is your main ship. Weapon's Malfunction, Damaged Engine, all killer crits for the ship you are relying on to win you the game.

Also, to the OP, Id consider that list. But I think id prefer...

Patrol Leader + Gunner + Tactical Jammer

Howlrunner

Academy x 3

100pts

Or just Tactician x 3

Or Mera Jade + Darth Vader/Rebel Captive

Howl + 2 Ties is probably fine, but I think id prefer the Deximator to have Engine, Predator, Ysanne, Rebel Captive, at least something to make it survive more and dish out consistent damage, since you are relying on it more. Can also use a named pilot at that cost.

I would highly recommend dropping Determination and APL for Predator though. I think you need the damage help. Your decimator is like an impotent narwhal. My 3 unreliable green dice will laugh at you all day.

Its a really nice tank build though. Just.. don't be surprised about how little damage you will have. Also, the blok (not touching you) will suck. No focus either? Let's remind ourselves about 3 naked dice = 1.5 damage. That means usually one or two.

And now for something different

Patrol Leader + Darth Vader + Fleet Officer(or Reb Captive, was thinking focuses for the Shuttles, however stress, hrrmm)

2 x OGP Shuttles + FCS + Engine (Lambda + Engine = Lambdagini Cowntach!)

36 hit points

The Moff is pretty good, though. I played a game where the first damage card Kenkirk + Predator received was Injured Pilot. I REALLY wised I had Moff Jerjerrod then. But I still managed a win. The following game I took Determination instead of Predator and I was destroyed in short order. I think occasionally the crits will maul you, but more often than not you have better options.

I do like the idea of Rebel Captive + Jerjerrod, because the image of Jerjerrod shoving the Rebel out the hatch is priceless. Especially in games where Rebel Captive isn't buying you a whole lot.

I think it will take some fine tuning, but when I run large based ships I find that I am constantly bumped by my opponent's ships. I'll definitely give Predator a shot.

Here's an alternate using Chiraneau
