In terms of sheer hard-to-kill-ness I'm thinking along the lines of this:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (59) VT-49 Decimator (46), Expose (4), Mercenary Copilot (2), Gunner (5), Dauntless (2)

I'm not certain about Expose and Gunner together - but if I'm going to make this a completely bloated build, then it can't hurt :-)

perhaps teaming up with a Firespray with DTF to soak up even more damage

as an offensive build:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (59) VT-49 Decimator (46), Expose (4), Mercenary Copilot (2), Gunner (5), Dauntless (2)

I'm not certain about Expose and Gunner together - but if I'm going to make this a completely bloated build, then it can't hurt :-)

You'll also want Ysanne and Experimental Interface. Target Lock as your primary action, then when Ysanne activates, also trigger Expose. 4-5 Dice with Target Lock and a single free focus conversion.

On a purely tanky build, you could add determination to filter out pilot crits.

The only thing that I feel is missing, is Engine Upgrade..I miss that.

Nice list - mostly I've been thinking of IA and Nav on Oicunn to maximise bumping (and APL) potential but I can see that working on any Dumpy build.
