My Wave V has arrived!!!!!!!!! A couple of quick lists for consideration

By Audio Weasel, in X-Wing

Ok, I threw these together in a bout 10 minutes time, just to get a feel for building with them. I'm hoping to get to play some this weekend

List one Rebel

Eaden Vrill + Lando crew + Experimental interface

2x Dagger + E/2 mod + Tactician + Sensor Jammer

I stole the B-wing build from Mr Froggies and another person who's name escapes, but added Sensor Jammers for increased survivability. Plus, I'm hoping they'll work well with Tacticians hopefully denying actions through stress. The stress from Tactician also triggers Eaden's ability. Lando for extra survivability and the Interface so he can barrel roll if needed and still trigger Lando.

List 2 Imperial

Kenkirk + Predator + Ysanne Isard + Rebel Captive + Gunner

Omicron Pilot + Vader

Backstabber

I like the combination of Kenkirk and Isard, and Rebel Captive should make decisions as to who to shoot more difficult. However, the Decimator IS a magnet for focus fire, which should give the Doom shuttle more time for force grabbing, and make it easier for me to get Backstabber in position to backstab.

Thoughts?

EI on Vrill is risky due to the 2400's lack of green movements, so maybe replace it and Lando (I'm guessing he was going to be 1 of your two actions) with 6 points in some other way. I do however I the concept of this list, using tacticians to give Vrill extra red dice.

I like the second list

Might as well slap a tactician on Vrill. Getting range 2 isn't too hard on turreted ships.

Dash, hlc, outrider title, katarn crew, ptl

3 awing prototype refit

99 points

Tactician still needs the target to be within the firing arc to work though.

I slipped over to the dark side this week and played my first proper 100 point game with imperials - and despite being totally tabled by my opponent I still won convincingly.

So it's got me thinking about builds that ...... shock horror ..... don't include Y-Wings

So how about Sledgehammer and Scalpel type approach with a Decimator and Phantom build

The Sledgehammer And The Scalpel

98 points

Pilots
------

Captain Oicunn (58)
VT-49 Decimator (42), Expose (4), Ysanne Isard (4), Intelligence Agent (1), Navigator (3), Dauntless (2), Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

"Echo” (40)
TIE Phantom (30), Weapons Engineer (3), Fire-Control System (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Well, I can think of quite a few ways to use 6 points instead of how it's built currently (although PTL is popular on Dash, so I'm not sure how detrimental EI is on Eadan). Looking through the possibilities...... Flight instructor could work well with the fact that he's got 2 agility dice, and since he's only PS3, anti-pursuit lasers could match well with him.

As for Echo builds....... I've used Echo exactly once. Last thursday. First time running a phantom at all. Ran her with Dark Curse, Night Beast, and an Omicron pilot with FCS, Gunner, Engine Upgrade, and Tactician. That game is what made me love the tactician.

Your list one is really close to what I was thinking to synergize with Vrill. Solid control with some solid power and defense. I was surprised to see Sensor Jammer on there...and the fact that it does synergize well with the stress mechanic. I recently made a list with the standard Whisper setup with SJ and used Carnor Jax to help implement it. Tactician seems MUCH cheaper to get it to do it's thing.

I really want to use the Lando + EI thing on an outrider (even the HLC Dash), but its greens are very easy to block and that could lead you into some trouble. Maybe for another list I'll consider using Cracken with Lando...no EI...maybe even Squad Leader. Perhaps in a different list Wingman would also work.

For your specific list, if you were to take out Lando and EI, maybe use Tactical Jammer with Gunner?

Solid list 2. I'd like to try something like that. I'm thinking that the Decimator might need more than just two other ships...at least two TIEs to block... I've got a lot of testing to do :)

Dash's mobility is a lot less impaired due to his ability letting him worry less about asteroids, and his ability to barrel roll off of one
