OT Warning EA Origins Hacked

By Stelar 7, in X-Wing

Hey all,

I know way off topic but I'd like you all to know, if you don't already, that EA origins has been hacked and purchases are being made electronically. They got me, I've been unable to restore access to my account, or contact EA support. They are horrible. No phone number, have to wait for them to call me.. was 16 min now over 100... If you have EA Origins get your credit card info out of their hands.

It certainly sucks for anyone afflicted though a small evil little voice in me rubs its hands in glee that this is happening to EA.

oh crap, you now have me very worried. i have to wait till i get home in about 5 hours to check my account though.

Turns out I only had my old card info on there. Ha, ha.

Good thing i use a card that actually has zero money on it when doing digital purchases.

Anyways can you provide a link to this ? A source ?

Is that the account you use for EA games on Xbox 360?

Since I got all my games via humble bundle, will I be effected in any way? Because I don't recall every buying anything on origin.

EDIT: It's also notable that if transactions don't go through (since I'm pretty sure my debit card doesn't overcharge), I get calls about fraud.

Technically, yes. However, unless you've made a purchase through Origin on your computer, there should be no card information on your Origin account.

I'm not familiar with how HB works, but unless you went to Origin and put in card info, I think you should be okay.

Best bet for anyone is to simply log into Origin and check to see if there's anything saved on your account. Better safe than sorry

Hoax apparently. Supposedly the plan was to create a hack scare to allow people to be hit with phishing emails.

Yeah, hoax, I just double checked my account. I removed my card info and changed my pass; However, I have not purchased anything from EA directly sense '08, I do have several EA games attached to Origins for DRM purposes(the likely reason anyone would be phishing).
