Another archetype of shuttle might start showing up with the release of the Fleet Officer.

This will turn the shuttle into an effective support ship handing out focus like candy. That's a first for the Imperial units. Two scimitar bombers flanking the shuttle could get off TL+focus ordinance shots.

The real question is what on Tatooine is the fluff justification for Vader damaging his own ship?

Probably is habit of choking a ***** when hes not happy with their flying. Im more interested in his magic ability to damage things at great ranges.

I used the doomshuttle for the first time last night.

We were practising the first round of an escalation battle and it was my BH and DS against Dash.

First game I was trounced due to a poor starting position near asteroids. The second game however I managed to chip away with the BH before Vader did his thing. Dash was toast and it tasted lovely.

Getting used to the awful dial and flying slower but I love the concept.

The Decivader won't play like the Doomshuttle. I think it will be used more as a sniper to make sure you close ships. Only Vader when you have to.

Maybe, but i dont think Decivader will be that much of a thing. With all the points youre already pouring into the Decimator i'd rather not cripple myself. Sure you can kill a Phantom guaranteed in 2 turns but you'll also take a beating in the meantime and your Deci is likely much more expensive than the Phantom. Odds are you'll die right after the Phantom does.

And if i'm only going to use Vader 1-2 i'd rather do it on a throwaway doomshuttle imho.

Not saying it cant be usefull, but i think i'd go with many other crew members on the deci (ysanne, gunner, rebel captive, mara jade just to name a few) before i consider Vader.

I would use this with more of a mini swarm or intercpetor wing. That way I can Boost Barrel Roll and focus 2 of my Interceptors. Just have Soonter Fel be the 3rd and that would be some arc dodging focusing power. Only problem is all the red moves on shuttle and the action which makes it unable to use Engine upgrade with Fleet Officer.
