Battlefoam Sale

By any2cards, in X-Wing

I happen to own multiple Battlefoam cases and custom foam cut outs for all of my X-Wing ships (72 and counting) and X-Wing accessories (tokens, cards, etc.).

While they can be some what expensive, I have been very pleased with the quality and protection they provide.

If you have ever been thinking of potentially acquiring any of their product or buying additional product, now is the time as they are having a sale from November 28 through December 1st with any where from 20-60% off.

Just thought I would share this with the community. After all, whether you use Battlefoam, Plano boxes, or ???, we all agree that you have to protect all of the X-Wing goodness that you purchase.

Have a happy holidays !!!

So, how is the shipping on it?

Also, which of these would fit well in the top compartment of a Plano 1374?

The one thing I've heard with these big sales of theirs is to be ready to wait for it, cause they get hammered at his time of year. Heck, I ordered from them early this year not even during a sale, and had to harass them multiple times to fulfill the order and get it shipped. Took them over a month and a half.

Not custom trays either.

That's not to say that their product doesn't work and work well, but the frustration alone from my ordering experience makes me wary of them.

They do have painful shipping times.

They do have painful shipping times.

I don't believe their shipping times are painful - rather, their manufacturing times, especially if you order custom load outs, can take quite a while if you order during a major sale.

Just as a point of reference ...

I order a custom load out 720 molle bag as my first purchase when there was not a sale. It involved them making 12" of custom laser cut foam. From the day of order, until it was actually in my grubby mitts, it took 17 days. I think this is an exceptional turn around when you consider the fact that the 12" of foam (I think it was actually 7-8 foam trays) all have to be setup separately, laser cut, packaged, etc.

I also ordered a custom load out 720 molle bag as my second purchase (along with 5" extra of foam) during their July 4th, 2014 major sale. This was an exceptional sale, as I basically got 50% off on the cost of all of the work. As you can imagine, they were HAMMERED with orders. So much so, that they extended the sale. I ordered my stuff on July 6th, and received it on August 16th. Now, this was a rather lengthy time, but they warned me ahead of time that it would be so.

The thing that actually upset me a bit was that on July 27th (3 weeks after the order), they contacted me and told me that the color I had ordered was no longer available. They gave me a choice of taking another color, or waiting until September to get the color I wanted. In addition, they said I could cancel altogether and they would refund my money. I wondered out loud (to them) as to why it took them 3 weeks to realize that the color I wanted would not be available? Nevertheless, on July 27th, I changed the color of the bag, and still received everything by August 16th. Which means they were able to cut all of the foam, package it up, and send it to me in about 20 days. Its just too bad they waited 3 weeks to notify me about the color issue.

Never the less, despite what some perceive as lengthy setup and shipment times, I think it has been reasonable, and the product itself has been excellent.

Obviously, you may feel differently, especially if you are part of the younger generation that wants everything NOW ! :P

I ordered standard trays and bag. It took them over a month. You're experience may vary.

I have a sword bag with custom foam for X-Wing currently, and am running out of room. I planned my trays so that they are either completely imperial, or completely rebel so that now that I need a second bag, I can split my forces easily. I already have my new trays planned (I wish they had cutouts for Wave 6 ready, but alas) and am just waiting for the 28th to send the order.

I did the same thing. Trays for Imperial, trays for Rebels. Soon, there shall be trays for S&V. Eventually, I can take the 3 720s I own, and make a bag for each. Of course, the Rebel's bag will always be on the bottom, where the true scum belong ! :P

I ordered one during their Fourth of July sale and it took about a month to arrive. I received it the week before Gen Con.

A note though - the areas for the X-Wing guns is VERY tight and easily snags on the foam. I contacted their customer service and they stated that they made them so tight due to customer demand. They said people had said they were too loose. They recommended I use a Xacto knife to trim the foam a bit to make the guns fit better. Instead of cutting I scrapped a bit until the holes were big enough that I felt comfortable taking the X-Wings in and out.

The B-Wings were a bit tight as well. Otherwise, I was happy with the purchase, and now my transport and Tantive IV are safe!

The first laser foam cut I had made had this exact problem with the X-Wings. The fit was so tight that when you attempted to remove the X-Wings, their 4 guns could snag on the foam.

Interestingly, the one that was cut for me for my July 6th order, the X-Wing shapes were looser, and didn't have this problem. Obviously, since you ordered at the same time, there must be variance between how the shapes are setup and/or the people that do the actual cutting.
