Encumbrance and Armor

By Deathwing, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

In the book it states:

"Each armor set has a listed encumbrance. This is the

encumbrance value of the item when carried. However,
armor is designed to be worn, and when worn, its encumbrance
value decreases. Reduce the encumbrance
value of all armor by 3 when worn."
Therefore Heavy Battle Armor (listed at Enc 6) , has an Enc of 3 when worn?
Or would the Enc by 9 when carried and 6 when worn?
Also, what if this reduces the number to 0? padded armor, armored clothing and heavy clothing have 0 encumbrance value when worn?

Yep!

Yep!

Remember, Enc in this system isn't a simple measure of weight, but a measure of how easy it is to actually transport. As someone whose worn armor for realsies once or twice, this is pretty accurate. Tossing the vest over your shoulders and your helmet on your head is waaaaay easier then trying to carry it all in your hands or shoved in a bag. It's a little heavy sure, but you don't notice as much when it's on your body, and even less if you've actually fitted it properly.

"Reduce the encumbrance

value of all armor by 3 when worn."

6 would be reduced to 3. Otherwise the book would say "increase the encumbrance value of all armor by 3 when carried."

Thanks guys!

I guess I was surprised that Laminate (stormtrooper armor) would only have an Encumbrance of 1.. they just look more encumbered then that lol

Well, the Laminate is encumbering for what it does (a measly soak +2). They should give it another +1 for being basic white ;)
